re: error code c00d12ea
OK I found this which makes sense in my case.  I used one of my credits to buy the song and now I want to have it on my work PC just using my Zune Pass and it is not letting me, so I will have to bring my Zune into work and copy the song down that way.  Not sure if anyone else's troubles are related to using more than one PC.  This definitely makes me rethink my backup.  I will be going home, searching for *.MP3 in my Zune folder and copying everything off to a CD or my external HDD or both.

I think this rule prohibiting users from restoring DRM free tracks is ridiculous.  If I purchase and download a song on one computer, I am unable to download the same song on my other computer.  To make matters worse, I cannot even download a DRM'ed copy of the song using my Zune pass.  It just keeps giving me the C00D12EA error.

kahanes,

This is an issue we know about and are looking into. If you purchase an MP3, you can never re-purchase, ddownload it through Zune Pass or restore it currently. As i said, we are looking into it.

I'm getting the same error but this is NOT a redownload. A couple of tracks from an album i purchased NEVER downloaded but everytime i try to download them i get a C00D12EA error. This is for the following album; Global Underground Nu Breed: Jim Rivers Tracks 10, 13, 25, 28

Yep,

Technically the program thinks you downloaded them. Basically as soon as you hit that buy btton, no matter wat happens some informaitn is then stored tat says you downloaded them. It is part of the issue we are looking into.

i had to call zune & they walked me thru cleaning drm.  that didn't work so they had to refund me.  what makes me mad is now that they refunded it i can't try to redownload it due to it be mp3 and i really wanted those songs.  now i tried to do different songs & have the same problem again so now i have to call them again tomorrow.  i am getting mad at this cause i had to spend almost an hour the other day on the phone with them & going to have to do that again

re: error code c00d12ea

puppy96,

Basically this is an issue that started with the record labels saying no user should be able to re-download any MP3 purchase. The idea was, if you purchased a track/album that you couldn't go to your buddy’s house, sign in and re-download the track/album to your buddy’s computer. Though technically you could do that by burning it to a CD, but the labels said no re-downloads and Microsoft said okay.

So the problem here is with bad downloads or downloads that never went through and that is the angle I used to get action on this. Basically our thought is you should never be blocked from re-purchasing an MP3, and that is what we are trying to push through, even if you have to call Zune Support for a credit based on a bad download.

Unfortunately, there is currently no mechanism to correct this for our customers – at this time we are constrained by the Labels from allowing multiple downloads on MP3’s no matter the situation.  All I can say at this time is that we are working on a fix for the failed download scenario, but I don’t have an ETA on that at this time – it won’t be in the near future, I’m sorry to say.
