Last.fm support
Last.fm will always be better than Zune Social. Period. So it woukd be nice if I could scrobble tracks from Zune OPlayer and the Zune itself to Last.fm I love my zune and Zune Pass but this is an endless annoyance to me, and perhaps even big enough to instead of buying 4.0, get something with last.fm support. Just about every player on the market supports it deafult or can be made to, yet due to zune restrictions its next to impossible for the community to make an app to due the job. Please consider this, as I really want to encourage my Last.fm friends to pick one up, but can't until this is supported

re: Last.fm support

Saying that Last.fm is better (and will always be better) than the Zune social is about as ignorant as saying that the iPod is better (and will always be better) than the Zune.  You're comparing Zune against something that has been established for a longer time.  The Social will catch up if they want it to.

Having said that, I'd love for the capability to scrobble my songs as well, and would even be willing to develop a plugin for it if there were some sort of plugin SDK for the Zune software.  That'd be just another notch in their favor (and I have this feeling it would be heavily used).

I say MS should just buy Last.fm and integrate it into the Social and be done with it.

This is something that is definitely needed if Microsoft wants the Zune to be taken seriously among music enthusiasts.

CBS already purchased last.fm and Im not sure they are looking to sell it.  Microsoft really should have looked into purchasing it because it is awsome

Good evening, Zuners.

I purposely searched tonight for Zuners who scrobble or use last.fm (I've reached my friend limit on Zune).

I have been scrobbling on last.fm since October 19th.  I am loving it!  I wanted to be a part of last.fm for the opportunity to meet people outside the US.  I am interested in learning how and what others listen to and what differences, if any, there really among us.

Unlike previous posts though, I don't "prefer" last.fm over The Social nor do I prefer an iPod over my Zune.  I see Zune and last.fm (and use them) as co-leaders of my music social life.  I love my Zune.  Other than widening my musical tastes and social circle, I choose neither an iPod nor last.fm to "play" my music, and it's not open for discussion.  I play my music either on my Zune or on my Zune software - period.

Seeing as MS is dabbling in openness with Windows 7...
Federated search, WMP12 able to play iTunes libraries, etc. Why not a Zune plugin? There are workarounds like Zenses, but nothing that currently works with my Vista x64 setup. I'd prefer to not have two separate music trackers. Also, let me sync the Zune from WMP12! Cheers.

re: Seeing as MS is dabbling in openness with Windows 7...

For anyone looking to have their Zune hardware plays scrobbled to Last.fm, it can be done and done fairly easily.  I have done a step by step guide that can be found here:

http://uselessrandomness.wordpress.com/2009/01/12/screenshot-tutorial-using-zenses-to-scrobble-zune-tracks-to-lastfm/

I feel like I should post this somewhere else as well, so that anyone who wants to scrobble can scrobble.  MS should really just allow a plug-in like iTunes and WMP has, but I don't have high hopes of that happening.  Anyway, if someone has a good idea of where else to post this, let me know.

Does that mean that iPods are not taken serious by music enthusiasts?

Strange response.  iTunes easily supports a Last.fm plugin and it works flawlessly with the software and hardware.
