Re: Marketplace coming to Canada before the end of March?

I just notice that Future Shop now currently has a promotion on Zune. You will get a $30 Zune Song Card with select Zune players. When you click on the link to see what the song card is, it will show a page with Microsoft's logo on. Is it any indication that Marketplace is coming to Canada? Because there's no way to purchase songs currently on Zune Marketplace now, it doesn't make sense to include a song card that is no way to redeem. I have no idea how long this promotion has been on, but I didn't see any news regarding this until I see it on Future Shop website. What's interesting about this is that on the song card page, it clearly states that "Card expires on April 1, 2009." Therefore, it should happen pretty soon before the end of this month. Let's wait and see. :)

Anyone recently purchases a Zune at Future Shop? I think we will all like to know what the card is and how you can redeem it.

Yeah, I feel it for you guys. Zune Marketplace for Canada was supposed to come out "by the end of 2008"...

Apparently Future Shop has been offering this card for some time.

I've read elsewhere it's basically a points card and people have been using it already with success.  I have no interest in even trying to buy a song with my MS points, though I was under the assumption that didn't work for us either?

Alright, so as someone replied on the FS forum, basically it's just a card with redeem code that allow you to go to some site and choose 30 out of a list of 100 songs. This is just lame... When can we get the real thing? :(

Yep, back where we started, not clue when or if it's ever coming.  Doh!

Well, this explains why I can never enter the marketplace.

There is a way you can access the zunemarketplace in canada, however, it won't work with zune pass, cards or a canadian credit card. It does however simplify your podcast collection (and also discovering podcasts) In your control panel, go to regional settings, and change your location to united states. Restart your zune software and voila, on the top should be the zune marketplace tab. (I tried redeeming a free song when i bought my case, it doesnt work because of locale)

It really isnt fair not to have marketplace in canada. I mean, we dont treally get everything we can out of the zune. We should tell MS we want the market place too.

tried the switching locale thing and while it allowed me to browse it screwed up my podcast subscriptions...  and I think the reason why the marketplace is taking its sweet time getting north of the 49th parallel is due to licensing issues...  those take ALOT of time to get done.
