Help! Firmware and error codes

Does anyone know how to restore the device firmware? Brand new Zune that I'm trying to name but the message on the Zune display says to plug into PC. I did that. Then the software looks like it is being updated but then stops and now I"m told to restore the firmware. What is this?

Also, what do these codes mean? C00D124F and C00D1249

I do not go where the path leads. I instead create my own path...

I have a similar firmware problem. I have a Zune30 that is maybe a year old. I have been able to sucessfully restore the device firmware twice.(once in december, and once today) However, the first time it worked for about a day, and the second time it froze five min later while sync-ing. I've tried every suggestion on the webpage for every error i've been given, and then some. I'm getting pretty darn tired of the frimware message and subsequent error messages. What more can i do?
