re: Describe Your Playlists

I got

Danse: which obviously is a collection of dance music. Mostly fresh hard to find remixes...not that crap you see listed under dance on zune.

Emoticon: a collection downtempo and ambient breaks i put togeather for personal inspiration reasons.

Manchester Sings: a list of songs from a genre i call "manchester" because i don't know what else to call it. It's kind of like a mix of the earliest form of British Grime and 90's rave electronica.

Gimmie Grime: a playlist of euro grime. Uffie, Streets, Just Jack, Roots Maneuva.

You Aint So Hip: a playlist of songs that are kind of "Dancey" but done with a mix of rock and electronica. Stuff like LCD Soundsystem, Mika, Santogold, Simion Mobile Disco.

Open Channel: kind of a large playlist of random singles, mostly lite stuff. I'll play it on random and let it play or skip through to somebody who's vibe i'm feeling at the time and i'll jump to that artist and listen to their stuff. I got all kinds of stuff on there from Omar to Zero 7 to Jason Mraz.

re: Describe Your Playlists

A lot of my lists are fandom related, but you asked, so here goes. XD

Ahead of the Curve: Music from/that makes me think of the film "The Dark Knight"

Angelboy: Music for/that makes me think of my late brother.

Beautiful Dreamer: List of about 1000 songs that I sleep to. (I really need to update this one.)

Beatles Blowout: All my Beatles songs, plus any covers I happen to have (like in the soundtracks for Across the Universe, I Am Sam, etc.)

Criminal Record: Music based on celebrity or general crime (I.E., I Don't Like Mondays, One More Murder, etc)

F*ck Off!: Angry music

High School Never Ends: Music that remind me of high school (IE, songs that came out while I was, songs that use it as a subject, my graduation songs, etc.)

Hippocratic Doctor House: Music from/that makes me think of the show "House, M.D."

In Mourning: Sad music

Memories That Fit in a Shoebox: Probably no one here has read the Harry Potter epic fanfiction "The Shoebox Project," but yeah, music that reminds me of that.

Moping Over: Break Up List 1 - the sad songs

Moving On: Break Up  List 2 - the "fine, I'm over you, then" songs

Riding Dirty in My Low Rider Down that Long and Winding Road: Music I listen to in the car (pretty much all my favourite music, no matter the genre - there's A TON of songs in this one)

The Fun in Funeral: Music from/that makes me think of the show "Pushing Daisies"

The Greatest Thing You'll Ever Learn: Music that makes me think of my girlfriend

re: Describe Your Playlists
Usually, I just queue up an album or jump around manually. I haven't made much use of custom playlists, but I was grateful to have the feature for Van Halen's "Best of Both Worlds." The last three tracks are live renditions of Hagar singing Roth songs, the studio versions of which are included elsewhere in the compilation. I built a playlist that mirrored the compilation but eliminated those last three tracks in favor of the three new tracks from Best of Vol. 1 (one Hagar song from the Twister soundtrack and two new Roth songs) and Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do). Not terribly creative, but it 'fixed' the release nicely. Afterwards, I got a bit more ambitious and buit a playlist weaving together VH and Roth/Hagar solo stuff. I also made one of New Wave of British Heavy Metal tracks, but I don't yet have a wide enough selection of material to do it justice.
