No one needs anything from Microsoft because no body lost anything from the Zune 30 problem. Stop being ungrateful that Microsoft came out with a solution in less than a day.
My hard drive spun up for two hours durring the crash and now the access arm clicks are audable. that two hours of spinning was a loss in my book!
Personally, I'd like some compensation for my time and possible damage as discussed above for my Zune. Also, I spent quite a bit of time researching the issue, not to mention time spent troubleshooting it, as well as taking calls on it and assisting people not only on this site but others as well. I also needed it to work on songs for my band - since it needed a nap without my permission or knowledge that I'd need to plan ahead, this was a major inconvenience.
Will I loose sleep if MS doesn't compensate people? No. But is ignoring the issue a customer service mistake? Yes.
PS: Microsoft didn't offer a fix, the simply discovered what others had already mentioned before anyone at MS issued any statements: It's a leap-year issue, and if you let them sleep for a day, there's a good chance that they'd be fine afterwards. Tada!
