Fix to 30GB Freezing up

I have done this and it has worked

There's a fix:

"Your zune will need a "hard reset."

To do this, use a small screwdriver to pop off the plastic shielding where the zune cable plugs into and remove the two screws on either side of the plug. Next pop the cover off and locate the battery plug at the top left corner of the zune, using your screw driver, pop the cable connection half way off, and do this to the other plug on the right side. Wait 3 seconds, then push down the right connector and then the left battery connecter. Your zune should start up immediately. Press the backing of the zune down (make sure headphone jack is aligned) and put the screws and cover back in place.

It's an easy process but if you're unsure don't attempt it if you think you'll screw it or something. :)"

Not pretty, but it might help those of you who have this problem.

I haven't tried this myself, but there are a lot of posts floating around here saying that this is, unfortunately, only a temporary fix. Even worse, it voids your warranty. Just wait it out, MS will have more info soon enough.

re: Fix to 30GB Freezing up

Just tried the Suggested fix:

Popped open the case and unplugged the two cables, waited a few seconds and replaced the Cables.

Result:
Zune problem appears to be solved. Its working like normal, with all settings back to how they were before this whole problem. Just did an additional soft rest, and the Zune went through the load screen, and back to normal operation. If the situation changes I'll update this post.

Update: this was only a temporary fix, 6 hours later same Problem occured, but Microsoft just posted a fix

I wouldn't recommend voiding the warranty for a possible temporary solution.

Most of the 30GB models are well out of warranty.

Great. You're an idiot and I guess that makes me one for trying this. All my Zune does now is turn on and immediately powers off and turns itself back on again. It keeps doing it over and over again. Hey, here's an idea. Leave the tech stuff to people who actually get paid to do it. Nothing responds. IDIOT!
