re: Features that will push the Zune to its full potential (part 1)

Below are some stuff I put together that would really push Zune to its full potential. I really hope the Zune team can seriously consider theses suggestions, as they are not absurd and can be very easily added . I will add more later.

-Lyrics for Songs
I love singing along with my Zune, but i often can't find the right word. Zune should incorporate a lyric feature that allows users to add lyrics or have Zune Marketplace automatically metatag a song with lyrics. The lyric option should be placed in the menu that you press the center button to get to (The menu with song rateing, song list, go to artists, etc). And the lyrics automatically scrolls down at a reasonable speed, whill still leting users to go up and down the lyric

-Free stuff On The Go
   Why not take advantage of the wireless function and let user download FREE stuff? Let users download free audio podcasts, like news, music, whatever on the go. I know you guys are also pushing to get more games out and create a marketplace for it, and please consider putting the game markeplace on Zune too. When users are bored, we can just pull out Zune, look for some games with wireless, and download it on the go! Think about how fun that would be. Also, an online picture gallery would be cool. Users can download free zune wallpaper, user created wallpaper, etc. But whatever you guys decides to do with the device Marketplace, I think only buying music on it is plain boring and uncool.

-Social on Zune Device
No offense, but the Social feature on the Zune sucks (i said no offense right?). I never find an occasion to use it. More features needs to be incorporated into the Social feature on the device. After all, Zune is very focused on social isn't it? You inbox should actually include the messages you get from your friends, not just the songs they sent. Scrolling through your friends up and down? It's really lame and boring. Put rectangular cards in the menu, and when you scroll through it, it pops out a little and show you their update. And what about myself? If you can add your friend's cards, why can't you put your own card on there! Zune is all about defining myself and expressing myself, and I can't even put my own card on there? You should bring back the "me" tab into Zune device Social menu, and put your card there. Just flipping up and down in a Zune card is *yawn*. Why not have a better graphic? Like flipping the Zune sideways and scroll through album images like on Zune.net.
An option to add people as friends right on your device is needed also. If you just found out that your friend got a new Zune and cant wait to add them, you can just pull out your device and add them. AND this would work perfectly with my suggestion about your own card on your Zune. This way when I add someone with my device, their Zune card automatically syncs into my Zune! Then later, the Zune software can pick it up and update it with my account.

-Better Album graphics
It's really boring flipping through my albums. It think the album category should be better. Have huge album images, and place the name of the album on the bottom of each album. And when you hightlight an album, have it pop out slightly. This should also apply to artists and songs. Have the highlighted songs slightly pop out.

-Clock on all menus
   The clock is a great idea, why limit it to only the main screen? I know that it may interfere with other menu and make it look really crowded,  but i think there should be an option in Settings that allows you to turn clock OFF, Main Menu, and ON and leave default to Main Menu. If you want clock everywhere including when you are playing a song, put it ON, if you only want it on Main Menu, put it on (guess what?) Main Menu.
To avoid making conflicts with other stuff, place the clock on the bottom right instead of top right. Place the battery, wireless, repeat, and shuffle status icon in a row, and put the clock underneath it.

-Zune-ready Podcasts
I love podcasts, but the reason I never download my favorite NBC Nightly News is that i hate waiting for it it convert.NBC already has WMV format videos, but Zune still tries to convert it. Zune team should work with NBC and other affilations to bring Zune-Ready video podcasts.

I like the downloading podcasts on teh fly. That would be def. be cool.

Or better yet, be like itunes and not have to download podcasts. Be able to just watch them and then if you want to put onto the zune download them.

My Zune 30 is not only still having a good run, but it's now grown up into a Zune 60 running for twice as long of a run..

I think they should get Sony to help them out with the software and giving MS the ability to focus more on the Zune Software. Not gonna happen, Sony is way better at hardware then MS

you know those are some really good ideas. I think we should be able to IM people on the social feature on the device it's self. I also think that it would be niffty to adapt the internet for the device .......  i mean it would take some getting used to but i think we could handle it.it should be capable with the wi-fi........ right?

MS made one Hardware Mistake (360) but the Zune is Really Well built. Microsoft Will make the next Xbox Better. they lost too much on 360, they won't make the same mistake twice. (I hope)

I really like your ideas.

My main requests would be D/Ling podcasts away from the computer, and having a search function (on device).

be nice if they would put something up there like a light dark black shade cause with different backgrounds its hard to see the clock unless your using a very very dark background.
