Hold Switch Broken
I was changing tracks while jogging today and must have pushed the hold switch too hard but the point is that it is broke. The switch just slides to and fro but does not work as intended. Fortunately, my player was unlocked and so I can still use the zune but I want the hold switch back.

I checked by removing the hold switch (using a simple safety pin) and it turns out that the cheap plastic holder under the switch gave away. I can still lock and unlock my zune using a simple safety pin by moving the latch inside the device. My Zune is still under warranty and I have a question for the general Zuners out there and for the moderators:

1. Should I send in my Zune for warranty repair (which could take 6-8 weeks) for something as minor as this? Does anyone else have any experience with the Zune repair people and their turn around time?
2. Should I just buy a replacement hold switch from here for only $3.00

Lemme know ASAP

re: Hold Switch Broken
Im not completely sure what choice you should make, but I recently had my device repaired and it took about 12 Business days. I received a brand new one. So for me I had good repair support and I live in Ohio and there only repair center is in Texas.

re: Hold Switch Broken
I would recommend sending it in for replacement. But if you know what you are doing and/or want to take the risk, you can try to replace it yourself. Again, I recommend playing it safe and sending it in.....

re: Hold Switch Broken
I know the best thing to do would be to send it in.. I checked out the website for the replacement and unfortunately the checkout process does not work for US addresses.

I'm weary for sending my Zune at the official repair shop because I've heard that they sometimes switch devices (sometimes ppl get back a different colored zune). I've got a custom Zune Original and it has a $25 Invisible Shield on it. I'm afraid that if the device goes in for repair, I might just loose on the investment.

I've sent in a repair ticket asking for sending over a replacement hold switch... I'm hoping that they send over that little switch instead of asking me to send over my whole device.

Fingers Crossed

Just out of curiosity @BFMVxROOM 409 - what kind of problem did you have? I'm amazed that they repaired it in 12 days Surprise [:O]

re: Hold Switch Broken
Alright, I just received my Fed Ex package for returning my device to Zune support. They're asking for some sort of proof of purchase. I bought my zune last december and have nothing except my credit card statement mentioning the purchase. All the confirmation emails were deleted (cause I figured I would not need them anymore). Would the statement suffice as proof of purchase?

I'm posting here because there is no contact information on the support page where I can direct emails to.

re: Hold Switch Broken
Sorry for massive bump, but I have the exact same problem with a slight twist; I'm in Europe. Is it even possible to get Zune support as a non-NA customer? I got my Zune from Amazon if I remember correctly, about two months ago so I should be covered warranty-wise.
