Zune team: I am experiencing a *different* problem with "Find Album Info" using the 3.0 software. This problem is 100% reproducable on all the machines I have tried.
The problem occurs when the Windows Vista Parental Controls web content filter is enabled for an account. In this case, the Zune software reliably fails to connect. The message "Server unavailable. Please try again later." is repeatably displayed when trying to do a "Find Album Info" search. Then Web content filtering is turned off, this problem goes away.
I have tried this only at the "Medium" web filter settings.
This is a major issue for me, as I just purchased a Zune 8Gb for my son. But, he can't use the software to manage his music library when logged into his user account at home.
A couple of more pertinent details: Windows Media Player works fine under the same conditions. Also, Zune 3.0 software works fine when the Windows Live Onecare Family Safety program is used as the Web content filter in preference to the OS filter. (Regrettably, I can't use this software as a work-around for other reasons.)
It is possible to enter exceptions to the Web content filter in the form of a "allowed" URL. However, when I enter http://zune.net it makes no difference.
I would hope this could be considered a bug (either in the Zune software or Windows parentla controls) and fixed. However, as a near term work-around, it would be very helpful if the Zune team could provide a URL to use as an exception to disable the filter that is affecting the Zune software.
Thanks for listening.
