I'm trying to expand my musical horizons so to speak. Maybe some folks could list some of their favorite world music?

Surprising, some Japanese Pop is actually good. My recommendation on that front is Hikaru Utada. She's one of those Japanese artists that did equally as well in America (she has CDs on both sides of the Pacific).

It's great that you're actively expanding your musical palatte. I hope you manage to find some great stuff out there.

my fav is Afro Celt Sound System (Lovers of light). This is a mix between celtic sounds and african beats- beautifully different.

Cuba: the Hecho En Cuba series is great, uh Pitbull. Italy: Laura Paussini, Tiziano Ferro. Spain: Alejandro Sanz. Mexico: Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Fernandez, Alacranes Musical. Colombia: Shakira ((her early stuff in Spanish)), Juanes. Ireland: Flogging Molly. Scotland: Franz Ferdinand. Sweden: Peter Bjorn & John. Puerto Rico: Wisin & Yandel, Ivy Queen, Don Omar. Dominican Republic: Angel & Khriz, Luny Tunes.

 

i really like musica do Brasil, too. but i dont know any artists.
