Like, Jim Reeves "the Blizzard", or Johnny Cash "The Ballad of Ira Hayes" I guess you could count the song "Convoy" too, to give you an idea.

I assume you mean the version George Jones released in 1990 on "You Oughta Be here With Me".

Speaking of George Jones, "He Stopped Loving Her Today" may be one of the best story songs ever.
Flatt & Scruggs did alright with "The Ballad of Jed Clampett".
"The Wreck of the Old 97" by Mac Wiseman and later covered by Johnny Cash "At San Quentin"
"Big Bad John"
"Coward Of The County" and "The Gambler" by Kenny Roger
"The Devil Went Down To Georgia" from Charlie Daniels.
"El Paso" by Marty Robbins.

Ol Red is not a new song.  I have it on an old George Jones album.  The older version is much better...but that's how it goes with pop-country artists.
