I use the five star system to create a series of auto playlists which I use to give priority to songs I like more (I have a 2+, 3+, 4+, and 5 star list, and if they're all added to Now Playing at the same time, 5 star songs play more than four star songs, which play more than three star songs, etc). The new system really only gives someone like me one choice - Like it. For one, I would never check a song as 'Dislike' because I can't possibly think of a reason to have a song I don't like in my library at all. For another, Neutral, or unrated, doesn't properly represent how I feel about my music either. I 'like' all the music I have, I 'really like' some of it, and a very select few I 'love'. I don't really see much point in having music I'm 'neutral' about in my library either.
And as wonderful an idea as The Social is, I don't really give a damn if other people don't understand my rating criteria if making them understand limits how I listen to my music.
I'm willing to give Microsoft a chance to fix the bugs - are you?
