I wish it would stop attempting to search my drives. I've followed your tips, removed all content folders, and disabled options such as update Album Art. Why can't this piece of crap just start up and wait for me to ask it to do something? Also, the predictive search is borked. After 3 months of Zune I'm thinking the best advice to speed up it up is /remove.

"Even people with awesome pc specs have reported the cpu maxing out." If you have awesome PC specs the Zune software will definitely not max out your CPU. It barely effect my PC..

Wow.  I just updated my video driver, and that helped a lot. 

When I did so, the display settings on the Zune software automatically reset to "premium" (I used to have it on "basic"), and even so the software now runs faster than it ever did.  If you haven't updated your video driver lately (or ever), and you have a slightly older computer, I'd definitely recommend it. 

It still takes 2.5 minutes to start the bloated thing, but once opened it works great.

I have a dualcore laptop with 4 GB RAM. 


Guess what.  It's still slow, and eats up more system resources than some of my games.

Why, because it reads stuff off of your hard drive, which has nothing to do with the speed of your processor or RAM

Only way to speed it up substantially is to get an SSD
