I just got a Zune for the first time. Mostly because I wanted the Zune Pass. I can't believe the videos aren't included. This is silly.

The fact is video should be free, unless they are movies.

My kids are constantly watching TV shows online LEGALLY.  Between Hulu, MTV.com, fox.com and CBS.com TV shows are ALWAYS FREE.

And by watching them for FREE, they actually end up wanting to watch them on the real TV (and then end up seeing the advertising, which is where the REAL money is for the TV stations).

Hulu, MTV, Fox, CBS, and NBC still have advertising on their website and in the videos. Plus those are streaming and on demand, not downloaded onto a hard drive or Zune and yours to keep. Every time your kids watch a show online, the websites are getting paid, that wouldn't be the case with video on the Zune, hence the charge.

Either way, adding the shows to the Zune pass would ensure everyone is happy.

The real ad dollars are on the television sponsors.  Letting the shows sync to my Zunes is free advertising for watching them on TV at their scheduled air times, when the real advertising dollars are being spent.

My points is that the shows, in and of themselves, are readily available for "free".  Be it on the internet, or from on-demand.  Now - if any of my house hold really get hooked on a show - we're watching it on the television.

If $2 in paid ad-dollars is what's letting me see the show on MTV.com.. then sell ads for the beginning of the show and give the shows away.  Otherwise the 4 cents of advertising on the page isn't covering it anyway...

"I would buy a video pass."

Amen! as long as it's less than $25a month, including music marketplace.

I support this idea. The structure I see as most feasable is:
zune pass - music
zune pass - video
zune pass - complete (video and music)
I see this as some would want a music pass but not care about video. I have no thoughts on pricing other than the "complete" package could be somewhat less than the combination of "music + video".

Though I would consider buying a movie via an online service such as Zune/Xbox marketplace, there is no way that I would purchase broadcast TV in this manner? I however would utilize a subscription model similar to the Zune Music Pass for TV, to get my TV. To be able to watch a show: when, where and how I want it… what more could a viewer ask for. With the way that the Zune/Xbox Marketplace is adding shows to their lineup, once they add a subscription model, I will be eliminating my digital cable.

The only addition I could ask for myself is an interface with in the Vista media center… And I know that I am not alone on that request.
