I don't get it, are you saying you support the writers' strike or are against it?

I want the Halo 3 soundtrack. How ridiculous is that: The Halo IP and any merchandises using the Halo name must be approved by MS, but their music store does not carry the latest Halo soundtrack, but itunes does. That is flat out ridiculous!

re: Need to have more songs for download on Zune pass

Wow, the only artists I care about that I cannot download with Zune Pass are Metallica and Led Zeppelin.  I guess it pays to be a fan of industrial electronic music, which is represented beautifully on Markerplace and Zune Pass.

Now I would like to see AC/DC, The Beatles, and old Black Sabbath on Marketplace!!!! (And the older And One albums.)

Can you please name a few artists that have recently been taken off Zune Pass?  I want to know if I should cry horribly or play a tiny violin for you instead. Big Smile [:D]

First off what are you listening too that?  Secondly you're an idiot and lastly MS is not responsible for content that is pulled the RIAA, Record Labels, and Artist themselves are as has already been stated by SEVERAL people in this thread.

I find it disturbing that no one can give a single concrete example of an artist who was downloadable on Zune Pass and now no longer is.  Please, bring on the list!

re: Need to have more songs for download on Zune pass

I recently discovered that Amazon.com is selling DRM free (!!!!) mp3s from Warner.  I purchased an album from them within minutes of hearing the good news.

The only thing I use the Zune Marktplace for is to grab free podcasts.  My limited time sifting through the marketplace was so un-fun and clunky that I'll pass on it.  Get it?  Pass on Zune Pass!  Get it?  Ok....it's not funny at all.  Sorry.

Oops I was wrong, either I got bad information, or the label changed it mind; but The Decemberists are available on the Zune pass.

re: Need to have more songs for download on Zune pass
When I was trying to redownload my music that I had on Napster from the Zune program, it was a couple of artists, mostly new age music artists, that weren't available, which surprised me since I figured the lesser labels would be more on board to put subscription based music verses the bigger labels which I thought wouldn't.

re: Need to have more songs for download on Zune pass

Regarding music not available via Zune Pass...

I wish there was some way to see an explanation about availability when an artist/album/song can't be downloaded. As much as I love the idea of Zune Pass, I hate it when I am browsing the Marketplace and I come across music that is available but only for purchase. I know Microsoft can't control the studios or artists, but at least we could have a brief note about the reason why it can't be made available for Zune Pass (and maybe even what they outlook is for changing that). It's especially frustrating with artists that have some of their albums/songs available for Zune Pass download but not others.

And what about a way to be alerted to (or see a report of) music that has recently been enabled for Zune Pass downloads? I've been disappointed by not being able to download many things in the past, but I have no easy way of finding out if the status has changed for those items. It's easy enough to recheck on specific music, but I want to see a list of ALL music enabled for download in the last week (or something to that effect). I don't want to have to remember to check Led Zeppelin or The Beatles or anything Disney (for my kids, I promise!) every couple months to see if things have changed. Or another angle might be to have the Zune software allow users to flag specific artists/albums/songs for later follow-up (either to purchase or hopefully download with Zune Pass).

As many others have pointed out, Zune Pass can be a great way to experience new music or indulge in nostalgia without having to buy. I certainly don't want to buy "U Can't Touch This" by MC Hammer, but I love that I can just grab stuff like that (legally!) when I'm in a flashback mood. Or I can download 30 albums of Christmas music and then ditch it all when the season's over. Especially for us old fogies who had their main music collection on pre-CD media formats, Zune Pass is a nice option to have. Now if Microsoft would just enhance the usability a bit more...

re: Need to have more songs for download on Zune pass

I have to agree that having a list to see what's being put on and taken off would definetly help us and microsoft. If more people could see things changing and see some of there favorite bands being added every week they might be more inclined to get a zune pass. And like you said for the rest of us that do have a zune pass it would make changing our songs up easier.
