Sorry, no I don't agree.  Bluetooth is low bandwidth...the original std is 1Mbit/second, and the newer version is still only 3Mbits/second.  Not good enough for music, and not even intended to support music...  It's good enough for phone audio, and file transfers with PCs (slowly...) but not good enough to play music without skipping, except possibly in ideal conditions and very low bit rate files.  I agree with you that wireless headphones would be nice but Bluetooth isn't the solution.

so what is your proposition? don't see a better solution as of yet. And it doesn't excuse them omitting something so obvious unless Apple has a lock on the part of the market.

put on your headphones, slip your zune under your shirt and into your pocket. BAM! you've just saved yourself 70 bucks. The wireless craze is a ripoff. I've used tons of wireless keyboards, mice, and headsets, and despite the much higher price, the wireless versions were inferior to their wired counterparts.

i agree with the shirt thing! i do that all the tie and what would happen if your wireless headphones came out? $100 down the drain! i like wireless keyboards and mice though

An external plug-in module for those who want BT.

Very much agree. Bluetooth needs to be in for me.

I definitely agree, every new mp3 player needs blue-tooth. They're probably going to release a blue tooth adapter but a built-in one is a must.

re: Zune HD...It needs bluetooth
I agree, Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) is a must-have feature.  My iPod touch 2G has A2DP it and I use it in my car with a nice-looking $30 visor-mounted Bluetooth/FM transmitter (Jabra SP700) and it is VERY convenient to not have wires dangling all over the place.  This may not be the highest possible fidelity (I can't tell, even in my German luxury car, due to road noise) but it doesn't require me to buy a new car stereo, install AUX ports, use a cassette adapter or stick some ugly dongle on my iPod.

And I can take my setup with me when I travel, when I use a rental car, or when I ride with friends or family.  When I'm in a car with friends who also have iPhones (or iPod touch) we can easily switch between them without stringing wires all over the place.  And we can pass the iPods around the car so different people can control the music.

To me the OPTION of a STANDARD wireless solutions which works with many other devices is one of the best features of the iPod touch.  It would be nice if the Zune had such an option.  If some users don't like Bluetooth audio quality then they don't have to use it.

If another superior wireless stereo standard emerges, then by all means Zune should support that TOO.  But since I (and many others) already have Bluetooth audio devices, A2DP support in the near term would really be nice.

re: Zune HD...It needs bluetooth
Why do people say a device option is not required in a device.  Do you know what would make the ZuneHD far better then any other device out there, if it could figure out a way to cook a pop tart.  Maybe that is a bit extreme but for anyone to say that the device doesn't need a simple service like bluetooth just doesn't know the power of bluetooth.

I won't buy a mp3 player that doesn't support bluetooth A2P2 with wirleess controls.  Because I lead a very active life the cable on regular earphones won't even last me 6 months until one earphone stops working. I've also never bought a It of earphones for more then $50.00 because the cable goes on me so quickly.

In comes bluetooth.  No more cord issues.  I'm not an huge audiophile and too me the bluetooth stereo headsets sounds as good if not better then the $50.00 earphones I used to buy.

What else do you get with bluetooth, GPS.  It's a market that exists and should be exploited.

Bottom line is that I will not buy a MP3 player that doesn't support Bluetooth. Until the zune gets it I have no interest in the product.  As a matter of fact here is the ultimate MP3 player that will meet all my needs.

1. 3.5mm jack
2. mini usb connector
3. Bluetooth
4. Wifi
5. GPS
6. Built on a decent OS to get those cool apps (Apple, Windows Mobile, or Android would all do).

Congratulations. You just listed all components of a BlackBerry.

Being an Audio major, I can agree with Mike. I've owned both BT and non-BT headphones. The wired counterparts always did better than the wireless. Why? Well, I don't know. The connection process is easier to deal with. Wired, plug and play. BT, turn on...wait.....troubleshoot connection....wait....play. (A simple example, I know it doesn't apply to all BlueTooth devices) Plus, the sound quality on a wired device is a lot better than a wireless device. Thats how it always will be. Direct connection will always perform better.

A BT jack may solve the problem, but that may have compatibility issues.

OMG!!! I'm not the only one! :-) I just bought a Motorola MOTOROKR S9-HD for a multitude of reasons, and was "VERY SURPRISED" Zune HD didn't have Bluetooth. What a shame... it would differenciate this device from ALL Others on the market!!

How is making it the same as everybody else differentiating it? That's just confusing.

EVERYBODY has Bluetooth. My car radio even has Bluetooth in it. Thankfully, I don't use it. Being an Audio major, I appreciate the direct connection of an aux cable.

Plus, good luck getting your Bluetooth to operate as a radio antenna. Let me know how that works out for you.
