re: An update on WMA license expiration issues for purchased content: We’d like your assistance!
Ok, I checked my old pc and all the songs are there and working fine as I have not updated the Zune software on it since Jan.  Now I need to figure out how to get them into a format that will work on my new pc, and Zune HD... what a friggin nightmare

re: An update on WMA license expiration issues for purchased content: We’d like your assistance!

I am massively frustrated. I just bought a new Zune HD, the third zune I own, I also have a gen 1 and gen 2 zune. I buy music with Zune Points, (not Zune Pass) so that I can always have them and they won't magically stop working. I now have 48 songs, every one of which I bought using Zune Points that will not play or sync because the license for MS to sell it is no longer available in the marketplace. Now remember...bought with points...like buying a CD....and now revoked!

This is terrible bait and switch. I DON'T CARE if MS license to sell it has been revoked... you HAD the right to sell it to me at the point when I paid POINTS (effectively cash money) for my fair use rights...and now you have arbitrarily stopped me from even listening to the songs! That is the equivalent of me going and buying a CD, taking it home, and a few weeks later the record company showing up and repossessing the disc because the retailer I bought it from no longer stocks it!!! It is verging on THEFT. At MINIMUM I should get 48 songs of credit on my Zune Points....what the HELL!!!

MS Please fix this underlying problem as I buy alot of music from you and really advocate for your players and this is horrifying to me.

P.S. I called support about this any they as good as said tough s**t. The files are WMA format. So I asked if I should therefore buy everything with Zune Points as an MP3 format...and they got all defensive and quiet...

The problem must be fixed or in the process of being fixed.  I woke up this morning and checked Settings, account, purchase history this morning and ALL the missing ones were now available for download.  Although I had spent 6 six hours reloading everything from a backup I decided to go ahead and give it a whirl anyway... and YES all of my previously purchased songs redownloaded themselves. I'm not a pass subscriber, I only purchase tracks using points.

I'm having the same issue with my Lupe Fiasco files I bought. Can I get my points refunded?

Yes this is definitely a really big issue.  I just paid $300 for a Zune HD to go with the 30 gb and 6gb Zunes I already own and now notice that at least 20 songs so far are no longer able to be played or added back to my zune.  This is absolute bs.  I called support and there is nothing they can do except mention we can buy the songs again or burn them to a disc after we buy them to get around the DRM.  This is not a good impression.  I am seriously considering taking this thing back because I am afraid of what other music is going to randomly begin locking out.  I don't have to use the marketplace and I definitely don't have to have a Zune HD.  Someone at Microsoft better get it straight quick or by this weekend I will be getting my money back for this Zune HD I just bought.

Good Bye Social. Good Bye Headaches. And Good Riddings Forum Trolls!
"So this was THE BIG FIX? It fixed it alright, more songs went bad! Tired of this ****, lousy support, with more bad software; and bug fixes my ***." -- this is from a customer that did business with Zune for over 3 years.

Lost over 165 songs in three years of doing business with Zune, only to get 1200 points back. Regret the day I ever bought a Zune. So much for the underdog theory. Gave it a try, lost more money in song losses than I paid for the Zune 30. Then was told there was this BIG FIX that will restore song playability. I wasn't so gullible this time however.

Bought an iPod Classic 160. I'm happy now.  Cool [H]
