It just proves you can't please everyone. ZuneHD isn't even out yet and people are complaining it doesn't have this or that.

re: Zune HD...It needs bluetooth

The thing is that - the ipod already has three adapters that support the ipod natively;

  • TMR-BT8IP - Wireless Transmitter for iPod
  • Motorola D650 Bluetooth Adaptor For Apple iPod
  • Jabra A125s - iPod approved Bluetooth stereo adapter

i.e you can control the ipod (pause play rewind, etc. ) from the bluetooth headset. this is a crucial function for being able to use two devices - such as a Zune and a windows mobile phone, at the same time. I think this sort of combination is what a loyal zune/microsoft customer would have. Anyone who drives and has a phone and a zune would want to be able to control the zune and phone safely hands free. currently the best most flexible option out there is a bluetooth system.

The ipod touch already has bluetooth built in (and I dont think that it made people run away from apple). If Apple could do it, with a tiny Broadcom BCM4325 wireless communications chip, Microsoft could do much better.

Just a FYI: The built-in "native" Bluetooth and AVRCP support on iPod Touch 2G only supports Pause, Play and Stop.  For more "control" features, you'll need an add-on solution.

That would be cool if it had bluetooth but it would be cooler if it transformed into an xbox controller, or a boat, hmmm a paintball gun, no a phone.. You get what i'm saying? You can add stuff to the zune but that would change the whole experience of it. They want to keep it an entertainment device that allows you to play your music, watch your videos, and so on. Bluetooth.. hmmmm Cool but relative to the whole thing. I had an Ipod until I gave it up for a zune 120 (Proud owner), and ipod did have these neat things and millions of apps.. But for some reason I would rather the 120 over the itouch. I dont know i'm crazy I guess xD

re: Zune HD...It needs bluetooth
I can tell you, from someone who's used BT for music, it's not that great. You're much better off with a good set of head phones. And from the research I've done, things like car stereos and the sort are starting to move AWAY from BT because of its limitations. As of now you're starting to see things like Ford and MS's SYNC. In fact, more and more WiFi based gear is hitting the market (http://www.engadget.com/2005/03/11/ltbs-freezone-wifi-headphones/ for example). If anything, the Zune HD isn't a year behind, it's a year ahead by not including this limited tech.

If you really have your heart set on using BT headphones with the Zune HD, get yourself a Jabra A120s and a pair of BT headphones. It'll hold you over until you can get yourself some WiFi gear that will work better.

re: Zune HD...It needs bluetooth

It seems the only way to please people with this issue would be if Microsoft or (more likely) a 3rd party accessory maker made an adapter that can be plugged into the dock connector. That way, the people who don't want this feature for whatever lame reason (sound quality is bad, too much feature bloat, blah blah blah...), DON'T have to buy it if they don't want it. And the people who WOULD appreciate wireless stereo, can pony up the cash for the adapter.

The only way I can see this occurring is if the Zune HD gains enough market traction for Motorola/Jabra/et al. to take notice and say to themselves, "hmm, we could make some money with an A2DP adapter for this popular Zune HD".

re: Zune HD...It needs bluetooth

You know, wireless earphones aren't the only use for bluetooth on a PMP...

I really wish there was a feature similar to the samsung P2, where there was bluetooth callthrough.  Sync your music player with your phone, and when you got a call, it alerted you on your music player and you could take the call right there, with a built in mic. The player acts as the bluetooth headset. You could even initiate calls from there too.

Great if you use noise cancelling headphones and you dont carry your phone somewhere that you can feel it viberate (like a backpack, holster, whatever).

I don't care a bit for bluetooth headphones... but the ability to answer my calls on my media player would be nice.

I would just like to see bluetooth on the HD for mobile phone DUN support.  This way I can almost always have 3g internet on my HD.

Actually that's a whole 'nother discussion unto itself: ever since last year's devices had access to the Wireless Marketplace, I've been wondering what if someone made a 3G adapter for the Zune and added a speaker/mic to it? Throw in a dialer and sms app, and you've got yourself an instant Zune phone!

Of course there'd be technical limitations that would make such a device impossible, not to mention all the legal/business barriers that would prevent it from ever happening. Only a pipe dream...

This would be fantastic.  I actually saw this being demoed at a NYC electronics store, B&H, using the newer Samsung P3, and a bare bones Verizon branded LG cell phone.

This and connecting to bluetooth, or a wifi/mifi card signal for 3G connectivity would be great.  I highly doubt it though, as the Zunes, including the HD, are some of the most locked down devices around.  You can hack iPhones and an iPod Touch for extra functionality, but not Zunes, which is a shame.
