re: Zune In Car
I have just bought an old 88 chevy cheyenne that I am planning to customise over the next coupld of years before giving it to my son for graduation. Because of the age of the truck and the very plain stock dash that it has I dont really want to a big shiny head unit so I was planning on using my 120Gb Zune as the stero and rig up some kind of stealthed in connection into the dash.

I'm trying to find out if there is a dock available that will connect to the Clarion Amp and charge the unit at the same time?

re: Zune In Car

Well I've been in and out of car audio for more than 15 years.  For me the best thing over all to do was have my Zune 80GB with the home dock, as my head unit going into a pre-amp with both a master volume control AND a seperate SUB control then to 2 amps, 1 powering my mids and highs, and the other 1 going to 2 - 12"s.  With doing this way everytime you get out of your car or truck you just take your Zune with you and everything else stays screwed and bolted down. No more burning CD's and ALL your music goes with you.  As far as going into a factory stereo goes, there are some munufactures that have an AUX. plug in the front which is this cheapest way to go. The next is to buy an after market stereo with an AUX. input. So bottom line is....... How important is HIGH QUALITY music to you and how far are you willing to go for it???  Right now I have a Zune HD 32 and am having issues with the stupid remote, I swear some $9.00 an hour lame A$$ designed it!  So as it stands right this second I'm running the HD 32 into a Rockford/Fosgate 3sixty.2, then in 2 amps for my mids and highs(front and rear).  I have 2 other amps that I will eventually put in for the Center channel and Sub channel.  The 3sixty.2 is about the best thing on the planet!!!!  It will be very complicated for a beginner though, AND VERY expensive.  I got lucky and picked 1 up when I worked at Best Buy 2 years ago at an employee accomidations price of ONLY $100 (retail $700).  But it does FULL SURROUND SOUND with timming delays and volume control for EACH speaker.  Only thing is you have to have 4 amps for it to work to its full potiental. But ONCE again I'm going with ONLY the Zune HD 32 as my head unit. The only things I still need to buy are a Creative Labs DDS-100 (or something like that) that converts the optical output of the Zune Dock into 6 seperate RCA outputs to go into the 3sixty.2 . And then a small LCD, maybe 10" or so that I can mount on my dash to play the 720p from the Docks HDMI output.  ANY questions anyone might have about all this or ANYTHING else plz feel free to send me a privet message.  I dont mind spending some time helping others out, I just love to share in the help of bringing the hard core love of music to everyone.  I'm an out of the box thinker and always find ways of making things that wouldnt normally work, work!

I've had the soundgate zune cor for about a year now and it works perfectly. The sound is very impressive and it sounds just as good as an ipod hookup (maybe better).

Will the Soundgate only show Video saved to your Zune? Will it show the song info and album art on a A/V screen? I would like to leave my Zune in the center console and see the song info on my stand alone video screen while driving.
