Same problem here,i cant sign in. I've searched Google and Yahoo answers for a solution and yet i still can't find one. I am very upset with Microsoft for they have given almost NO acknowledgement to this very serious problem. - Nooreo

If you're in Canada or the US you're supposed to be able to sign-in. Help us debug the problem by providing the following:

re: Re: re: Regional Sign-In Issues
I know I live outside the US and technically I'm supposed to accept that I don't have access to the Zune software, but what really bites is that I was living in the US when I bought my Zune, and that's where my Zunetag and LiveID are registered to. My work takes me all over the world on long term contracts, so it's not like I have a choice about being where I am. I have been able to sign in to Marketplace without any problems, even since the latest update. My PC is set to the correct US settings everywhere. But despite the apparent success of being able to access Marketplace, I can't purchase anything. Just after the confirmation screen, Zune software seems to run a check, detects I'm outside the US and says "No". Surely MS can't penalise people because we don't live in the states anymore. It doesn't seem particularly fair.

I don't think you are blocked from access to the software, you are blocked from access to the zune marketplace... and that is easily done by identifying the location of your IP address.  And, it's not MS trying to penalize anyone...it's an issue of where they have contracts allowing them to sell copyrighted content.  FYI-  you can buy locally-  just make sure it's a compatible file format without DRM.  And, you can subscribe to any compatible podcast you like easily as well-  copy the RSS feed from the podcast site, or from a podcast directory (zencast.com is a good one...) and paste it into the dialog box you get clicking 'add a podcast' in the zune software.

re: Regional Sign-In Issues
I just got a Zune HD. I'm trying to get access to download apps from the marketplace, but I keep getting an error message when logging in saying that my Live ID account is not set to the same region as my computer. My computer is set to US and my Live ID is set to US. However, my Zune contact is set to Canada since my Live ID was originally set to Canada and I can't change it to US. I tried changing my location setting in Windows to Canada, but then I can't access the marketplace at all. I tried creating a new Live ID, but then I can't use my ZuneTag. I can't find any useful information online, please help.

Hi, unfortunately you will need to create a new live id that is set to the US since there is not a way to change the contry associated with it.

If you can't Sign in try this:

For anyone who is in the US or Canada and are seeing a region error on sign in and do not see quickplay or the social, try this:

Start the registry by going to start - run - regedit

Navigate to \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International\Geo

Right click on Geo and select New - String Value

Call it Nation

Enter a value of 244 for the US or 39 for Canada

Relaunch the Zune application and see if you can sign in

I've tried this and it was already set to 39... I created a new string and replaced the old one anyways....still no change

I've checked and rechecked all of my account settings, for windows live and for zune account... All were set to Canada

and I've checked my computer region setting from the control panel... also Canada...

I think I've restarted my computer 2 times so far only to be met with the same "The location setting for your windows live ID doesn't match the setting for your computer (US)"

>_< no where on any of my accounts or computer does it even mention being in the US....

I could use some help on this as I would REALLY like to be able to sign in again... or am I pretty much screwed on this by Zune?

It sounds like you live id is not in the same location your PC is set to.  You cannot change the location for your live id, so you will need to make a new one.
