re: Friends and the software
I'm with Comcast, in Utah. I actually just upgraded to Win 7 myself (clean install), but my friend still isn't showing up.

re: Friends and the software
I had the same exact situation as a previous poster. I had added friends a few weeks ago, but they never showed up on the software or my Zune HD. I just did a clean install of Windows 7 and reloaded Zune software and they magically showed up... =?

re: Friends and the software

I was having some problems with the software (My zune was not linking to my account), so I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it.

My friends now magically show up!!! YAY!

(BTW: If you have the linking problem, you can solve it by doing the complete reformat- firmware delete)

re: Friends and the software

Hi - to everyone who is encountering this issue, we're still investigating it and need your help. It would be wonderful if you could do the following steps to give us more information on what's going wrong:

First - save a log of the communication between your Zune software and our service.

1. Download this file and save to your local drive: http://www.fiddlercap.com/dl/FiddlerCapSetup.exe
2. Close all instances of Internet Explorer and the Zune software
3. Install FiddlerCap by running the FiddlerCapSetup.exe file.
4. FiddlerCap should start automatically when the installer completes.  If it doesn't start, you can start it from the START menu.
5. Inside FiddlerCap, click the Clear Cache button.   Do not click “Decrypt HTTPS Traffic”.
6. Inside FiddlerCap, click the Start Capture button.
7. A new Internet Explorer window will appear.  Close it.
8. Run the Zune software.
9. Navigate to your social page
10. click on the “friends” tab.
11. Inside FiddlerCap, click the Stop Capture button.
12. Inside FiddlerCap, click the Save Capture button.  Save the .SAZ file to your desktop.

Second - find and make a copy of your local Zune database:

13. Find the hidden file “zunestore.sdf” – you’ll have to show hidden files and folders.
If you’re on Vista, it’s at C:\Users\<your username>\appdata\local\microsoft\Zune -> replace <your username> with whatever you log in with.
If you’re on XP, it’s C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Zune.
14. Copy it to your desktop
15. rename it “zunestore.txt”

Third - send us the files and information:

16. go to https://connect.microsoft.com/Zune and create a report
17. in the report, give your own zunetag and give the zunetag of at least one friend who fails to appear in your zune software.
18. Attach the sdf and saz files to the report.
19. Send me a message and I'll look for the report.

Thanks

re: Friends and the software

Thanks to some helpful Zune Social members, we believe we know where the problem is now.

Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to require a software update to fix. People have reported that uninstalling and reinstalling the Zune software causes all their friends to show up, though.

re: Friends and the software

I think that's a different reason...do we appear and disappear sometimes? Our profiles are different, and I've been hearing that there might be some issues with them.

re: Friends and the software
I've never seen you and skipdeez on the software before.  And I have another friend that just got a zune account and he and i added each other last weekend and I'm 3 or 4 days in and do not see him on the software.  I do have 2 other friends on both the web and the software that I see there content and what they have been doing lately. So I hope this helps with what you thought might happen.

re: Friends and the software

There's no such thing, unfortunately, as a "patch" for the Zune software; it's not developed in a way that makes it possible to patch.

We haven't announced when a new version of the software would be available - sorry.
