Hi - to everyone who is encountering this issue, we're still investigating it and need your help. It would be wonderful if you could do the following steps to give us more information on what's going wrong:
First - save a log of the communication between your Zune software and our service.
1. Download this file and save to your local drive: http://www.fiddlercap.com/dl/FiddlerCapSetup.exe
2. Close all instances of Internet Explorer and the Zune software
3. Install FiddlerCap by running the FiddlerCapSetup.exe file.
4. FiddlerCap should start automatically when the installer completes. If it doesn't start, you can start it from the START menu.
5. Inside FiddlerCap, click the Clear Cache button. Do not click “Decrypt HTTPS Traffic”.
6. Inside FiddlerCap, click the Start Capture button.
7. A new Internet Explorer window will appear. Close it.
8. Run the Zune software.
9. Navigate to your social page
10. click on the “friends” tab.
11. Inside FiddlerCap, click the Stop Capture button.
12. Inside FiddlerCap, click the Save Capture button. Save the .SAZ file to your desktop.
Second - find and make a copy of your local Zune database:
13. Find the hidden file “zunestore.sdf” – you’ll have to show hidden files and folders.
If you’re on Vista, it’s at C:\Users\<your username>\appdata\local\microsoft\Zune -> replace <your username> with whatever you log in with.
If you’re on XP, it’s C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Zune.
14. Copy it to your desktop
15. rename it “zunestore.txt”
Third - send us the files and information:
16. go to https://connect.microsoft.com/Zune and create a report
17. in the report, give your own zunetag and give the zunetag of at least one friend who fails to appear in your zune software.
18. Attach the sdf and saz files to the report.
19. Send me a message and I'll look for the report.
Thanks
