re: Windows 7 RC and Zune
I got the same problem but mine seems to be a bit worse.. when i connect my Zune and Zune software is running 5 seconds later Zune Software crashes and it closes down with the possibility to report to MS. This is with Windows 7 RC1 - when I was using the Beta, the Zune was working with out problems :(

I'm experiencing a big memory leak trying to Sync my Zune 80. I'm running Windows 7 RC x64. I had to kill the Zune.exe process after it hit 2.5 Gigs of memory use(!). This is definately reproducable. This is happening when I'm loading my Library into my Zune (5k songs). Anyone see this as well?

We have seen this in house as well and are working with the Windows 7 team on a resolution. Thanks for bringing it up here. If I find any workarounds or more info I will post it here.

re: Windows 7 RC and Zune
I have a brand-new Zune 120 and many of my songs are skipping when I listen to them.  I know the files are good because I listen to them frequently in Media Center.  I was using Win 7 Beta when I got the Zune and I am now using the RC version (clean install from the Beta).   After installing the RC, I completely erased the Zune and after syncing all of my music again, I still have songs skipping.  This seems to only be a problem with my WMA Lossless files which would be most of my collection.  And I am not transcoding the files to a smaller file size when syncing.

re: Windows 7 RC and Zune

I haven't noticed any other issues with Windows 7 RC and Zune software on my end besides what I reported before.  I'm still looking forward to seeing if the new Zune software will support jump list.  Also, if you look at the Zune device under Devices and Printers, it doesn't actually show the image of the Zune but a generic image.  I'm sure this will changed with new software revisions because it's obvious the release we are on now was created before Windows 7 Beta.

I realize this is the wrong thread, but it seems that at least someone from the Zune team reads these posts so...I keep trying to LOG IN to the Zune Marketplace via the Zune software and I continually a generic, I.E. NO CODE, error saying that it could not login.  The thread where this was posted by MANY people seems to be ignored by the Zune team.  Seriously, this is a huge problem and it is big enough to make me want to throw in the towel as far Zune is concerned.  You people love my money, now how about making worth my while to give it to you.  Patience is wearing out.

re: Windows 7 RC and Zune
I think I might have found a root cause for the memory leak. Any files that fail to sync are not being removed from memory. So, the memory use only rises when a file fails to sync. For example, I had a lot of files with the C00D27E1 error early in the sync queue. When I removed those files from the library the sync was successful, up until the next set of files with that error came up in the queue. But, I was able to get through about 400 songs till that happened, and memory use didn't go above 105MB. After the Zune team fixes this memory leak error, it'd be nice if they could add a function in the software that would let you replace ZunePass albums that are no longer available with alternative albums that have the same songs, or if you'd just work out better licensing agreements so this doesn't happen. I realize the 10 free songs a month is probably meant to help alleviate this, but sometimes you have more than 10 tracks that come off license in a month. Also, if you would provide a monthly or weekly reminder of which albums were coming off license, we'd be able to choose which songs or albums we wanted to buy to keep, or which to let go.

Same thing's happening here. The thing that worries me the most is that it only takes about 2 1/2 seconds to generate and send the error report. Makes me think I'm doing something wrong.

I support the abandoned project and the lost cause.

This is probably something most people wouldn't do with the software, but you can make the Zune window wider than the actual desktop width, whereas most programs don't let you; I don't know if this happens in Windows Vista either, stopped using it.

re: Windows 7 Beta and Zune
Matt and team.

the problem I'm having is that I can not get the Zune software, installed on Win7 RC1 to recognize any of my WMC recordings (which is dedicated on another machine running Win7 RC1. This worked in Vista 32bit..
I''ve tried copying the files from my WMC machine to the machine I"m running Zune software on and that also isn't working. I can see the files in WMC on the local machine (with Zune installed) . I can also see and play the files (again located on the other WMC machine) in Windows Media Player on the same machine that Zune is installed on.
i hope this isn't too confusing..
All other media is work, photo, music, podcast. just not video.

Help! Pls...

re: Windows 7 and Zune
I have W-7 X64. When I plug in my Zune, it says the drivers have failed to install. It recognizes the device as a Zune.
I've reinstalled the software multiple times, and every time I do, it asks me to unplug the Zune.
I've tried installing the package at the URL provided in the OP but get the following error message:

"Installation failed

Setup most stop because the required package 'Zune' didn't install.

NssCA 18:23:099.377: Operation 'ConfigureService' has finished with result 0x80070424.

CustomAction InstallNetworkSharingService return actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

Error code: 0x80070424"

I tried reformatting the Zune. Nothing. I now have a blank Zune with no music (I successfully installed the software & drivers using my roommate's computer. He runs XP).

I've run everything as admin. I right-clicked the .inf file, hit 'install' and got an 'this driver cannot be installed this way' error.

I'm having problems installing my digital camera drivers, as well, so I figured it might be a security issue. I've messed with the security settings (what few there are) from full to completely off, and nothing works.
