Marketplace doesn't exist. Streaming doesn't exist. Signing in doesn't exist due to update infection. Give up. Zune Software is dead. It was all due to the update virus. No one can operate Zune mainly because Microsoft is 100 times stupid than they always are. Zune doesn't exist. This site doesn't exist. Zune has now ceased operation. Understand?

Zune is infected! Zune is infected! Zune is infected! You can't use it anymore. Marketplace is closed down by Microsoft.

Hi Andy1l, thanks for providing this information.  Can you answer a few more questions?

Where did you install from?

What other versions of Zune have you had on your machine?

re: Regional Sign-In Issues
I have a question, before I purchase a Zune player...

I am an American, with an American billing address, American credit card, American computer, and American Microsoft Live account. However, I will be living in China. Will I have access to the Zune features such as Marketplace, Podcasts, etc. ?? Please comment only on Microsoft's policy, not speculate on China's firewalls and the like.

Thanks,
Blake

The official policy is you should set your location to China and not be able to access the marketplace or the social.

Thank you. I do not want to break any laws, so I will have to look elsewhere. Microsoft, please add support for China. You make the things there, so make it happen.

I see people asking two questions, but only getting answers to one, I'd like to see a response to this so I am going to only ask the one question.

As an allegedly supported Canadian Zune owner, how do I get access to podcasts with no marketplace showing after signing in?

Actually it's quite easy.  You go to the podcast site, find and copy the RSS feed.  Open the zune software, go to the podcast section, click add a podcast (lower left) and click OK.  You are now subscribed and the software will manage downloads, what to sync to your zune exactly as if you had subscribed thru the zune marketplace.  It's a bit less convenient than having a single marketplace but you can almost even achieve that thru some of the online podcast directories (like zencast.com.)  I suppose the intent of this is to enable us to subscribe to any compatible podcast regardless of whether it is listed in the marketplace...

If you can't Sign in try this:

For anyone who is in the US or Canada and are seeing a region error on sign in and do not see quickplay or the social, try this:

Start the registry by going to start - run - regedit

Navigate to \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International\Geo

Right click on Geo and select New - String Value

Call it Nation

Enter a value of 244 for the US or 39 for Canada

Relaunch the Zune application and see if you can sign in

It was already there and set correctly, though the sign in error I get does't mention region, but ability to get in touch with the servers and only from my home network.

I've tried this and it was already set to 39... I created a new string and replaced the old one anyways....still no change

I've checked and rechecked all of my account settings, for windows live and for zune account... All were set to Canada

and I've checked my computer region setting from the control panel... also Canada...

I think I've restarted my computer 2 times so far only to be met with the same "The location setting for your windows live ID doesn't match the setting for your computer (US)"

>_< no where on any of my accounts or computer does it even mention being in the US....

I could use some help on this as I would REALLY like to be able to sign in again... or am I pretty much screwed on this by Zune?

re: Regional Sign-In Issues

I'm in Scotland for the semester - so I can't log in to the marketplace or download the new software - I get that.  I have the zune pass though and you have to sync ever so often or the music stops playing... is there anyway for me to be able to play the music I already have downloaded using the pass - or do I get stuck with no music for a few months? Thanks!
