PETITION: Return of device-to-device sharing!

Why would they get rid of this feature??  I can't believe ad-hoc would cost anything when they already have full wireless features...Come on MS.  I have a red 32 Gig HD and love it except for this feature missing. :-(

I haven't been able to pick up my Zune HD yet, so I didn't even realize that this feature had been cut. That is disappointing! I'll add my vote. I really enjoyed that feature.

For those of you that have HD's already, is it possible to, view, access, and then download what your friends have been listening to from your Zune HD so long as they have been added to your Zune's Social section and you have a Zune Pass? That would at least be something.

YES! There have been so many times where I could have used this. I used it all the time on my old zune, I don't see why it was removed.

I will sign the petition.  I bought my Zune HD after my 8GB had an accident.  A coworker an I would share music all day long.  Now that I have the HD, we can't do that anymore.  That was one of the greatest selling points of the Zune.  I could have bought an iPod Touch.  I thought Zune was all about connecting to other users and sharing our music.

It seems to me that they haven't altogether taken this feature away.. they've just changed it.  You can still send a song or an album to someone but it's linked to their tag.  So you actually need to be friends with or ask the other person for their email or zune tag to send them messages or media.

However, I haven't played with this feature much. (Select an album or song then message button on the top right.)

I was very surprised this feature was taken away. Isn't one of the big things about Zune sharing with people? This is a feature that made it really stand out among the crowd. I just assumed it was still in the Zune HD until my and I tried to send some songs to each other, and figured out we couldn't. Sending pictures and songs to people is a lot of fun. I really hope this comes back!

All I can do is now is send songs to people through the marketplace, and its just a 30 second song clip, and they can't even listen to it if its not in the marketplace (which a majority of my music I like isn't in the marketplace). Not to mention you have to have wireless internet access to transfer the song to your friend, so if your not near wireless internet, you can't share anything. Pictures can't be sent at all anymore, and I cant send stuff to random strangers I find, as I don't know there Zune tag, instead of just being able to search for nearby Zunes. I'm really sad this feature was removed, I was pretty excited about doing it until I found out I couldn't when in the moment.

This is my first post on the Zune forums, just to bring this feature up.

I'm new to having a Zune. (I love the new HD.) So could someone explain to me how the old sharing worked and what the difference is between the new and the old? I'll sign to have both ways though. :)

Signed. Finally, at the time that a good amount of my friends and family are getting Zunes, they take away this feature. It seems dumb to nix your main selling point when it finally becomes useful.

Isn't this the feature that everybody made fun of when the Zune first came out? I don't miss it at all. I never used it, and I never had any intention of using it.
