Re: re: Re: re: Re: re: Zune is not worth it (especially in Canada)
Double post Stick out tongue [:P]. I agree, videos are a pain. I buy my DVDs or Blu-Rays, or rent from Blockbuster or Xbox Live. So I'm happy about the new update coming out because then I'd be able to watch any movies I rent on my Xbox, laptop, and 80gb Zune instead of having to break a copy protection on a disc or pirate the video and get terrible quality or viruses or whatever other problems you might run into pirating movies. Music on the other hand, I don't care if I steal. Record labels are evil, make millions anyways, and the artists are usually left with nothing compared to the label they're signed to. I feel music should be free, but I still do pay for some of my music so I'll use iTunes when I really want something and really like the band. That's why a Zune Pass would be so helpful. It's only $15 a month and you can listen to all the music you want to check out and even keep 10 of the songs each month. We need that! But I'm excited for the videos either way.

That's the assumption. However, while the video service will be in Canada they haven't officially announced if it will be through PC or not but i'm assuming it is because that's how the service will work in the US. If you rent it or buy it once you can watch it on "3 screens" as they say, Xbox, Zune, and PC. However, I'm assuming they'll have to allow Marketplace for those countries who are getting it but they'll likely only show just the video portion, but I don't see why they couldn't show podcasts as well. And you don't need media center, just the Zune software. It'd be nice if you can transfer it straight through the Xbox though.

I had a similar issue actually but not only was my media from Zune not working my WMC was messing up too. I forget what I did but i finally got everything working about a week ago. But I wish they had a Windows Media Center-like setup for Zune on the Xbox.

the zune will never be big in canada. this is coming from a zune 80 owner. although i like my zune80 and think its better than the ipod classic,  i only know like 3 friends who actually have a zune and have only seen <10 people using it in public.
no one knows what the zune is in canada. this won't change.

I know about 6 friends who are Zune users in Canada, not including myself. But your right, Zune isn't popular in Canada. Does it need to be though? I don't see how it affects me one way or another if somebody else has an iPod or a Zune or an Archos or anything. It's not like I'm using their mp3 player, I'm using my own.

re: Re: re: Zune is not worth it (especially in Canada)
There are a few very good reasons why the Zune failed in Canada.  Not once have I ever seen the Zune advertised in Canada.  Without advertising, most people don't even know it exists.  Whenyou go into BestBuy for example in Canada, the Zune is buried behind all of the Apple crap.  On top of that, the BestBuy sales associaltes push Apple garbage.  The well known reason why the Zune is a failure is Canada is a lack of marketplace.  The software may be great but no marketplace or Zune pass in Canada is like shooting yourself in the head with a 12 guage shotgun.  You just don't stand a chance and that's what happened with the Zune.  It's also pretty clear that anyone around here on the Microsoft team have little or nothing to say to anyone that isn't American or living within the United States.
