re: How do you like the podcast support in the Zune software?
I think the podcast support could definitely use some work.

While the basics are there, I think support for enhanced AAC podcasts (podcasts with chapters and multiple album art) should be certainly be added.

Also, when syncing with the Zune, it would be nice to be able to select the number of unplayed/new episodes to sync (instead of just all).

re: How do you like the podcast support in the Zune software?
The podcast support is definitely better than iTunes. That said, one of my main gripes is what Jamlo posted which is, there needs to be an option to sync the last 'n' episodes. And not a slider, if possible, just a text box where I can say how many. For some podcasts, especially some video podcasts, I'll end up adding a bunch to my collection. That leaves me with the options to either:

Sync all unplayed and partially played: Which will usually be one or none.
Sync all downloaded: This can end up being dozens of them, taking up a lot of room.
Sync only the first unplayed: This will either be one or none.
or Don't Sync any episodes.

I'd like to be able to keep as many episodes as I like, but only sync the five latest episodes.

Mark as Played/Unplayed also desperately needs to be brought back to the Zune HD! :)

re: How do you like the podcast support in the Zune software?

I would like to see the following features:

1. Automatic Sync with Audible.com subscriptions. They are published as podcasts but they will not download if you subscribe to the link. This has been reported in other threads.

2. Podcast Playlists. I subscribe to almost 50 podcasts. Some come out daily and are fairly short. Some come out weekly. Some come out Monthly. With ITunes I can create several dynamic playlists to play a group of podcasts in an the order I like.

Unplayed Shortest to Longest. This generally get the new daily short poscasts out of the way and then drills into the weekly and monthly.

Unplayed Oldest to newest. This works best where the podcast is a series that builds on the prior podcast.

Unplayed newest to oldest. This works best for news and other daily content.

Right now as far as I can tell you have to do the equivalent of texting while driving to find and play a second podcast during the morning drive to work. In essence using a Zune while driving is breaking the law in many states.

Could someone from Zune development PLEASE explain why there is no podcast playlist support? It seems like such a relative simple and useful tweak. Is something like this envisioned at all?

I don't know about Zune HD, but I believe the other Zune devices could play a series of podcasts in either of the two ways as you set the series settings:
