I found the Zune speakers from CES 2008 reviewed on Engadget and clickzune.com pretty hopeful and helpful.

re: Zune Speaker Docks
The Logi-tech X-240 speaker system, while not a dock per se, seems like the perfect solution for my needs.    It comes with two sattelite speakers,  a sub-woofer, a control module which doubles as a stand holder for the Zune and all the necessary cables for connection. While prinarily designed as a computer speaker set-up it functions well as a stand alone speaker system for My Zune 30 GB.  The stand holds my Zune at a convenient viewing angle and the controls for the speakers are all on the stand, except for the volume control for the sub-woofer, which is rather inconveniently located on the back of the sub-woofer.  The sound is excellent, crisp and clear, with great lows, which is to be expected with a sub-woofer. I place my Zune on the stand, plug it into my compter and into the speakers with the provided plug and I am good to go.  The unit retails for about $50.00 which is much cheaper than any dock I have seen and I would be willing to be that the sound, particularly the lows,  is much better than you would get from any "dock".  For my money and my needs it is the right solution for listening to my  Zune at home.  Hope this gives you some ideas for an alternative to the limited selection of docks for the Zune.

re: Zune Speaker Docks

Yeah, at one of my home work stations, I have a yamaha set up. I connect my zune to that and it sounds great with a subwoofer.  these too are ment to be computer speakers, but work great.  I never thought about connecting to the computer for power while playing off of these.  Good idea.
