Same problem: http://forums.zune.net/2856/ShowPost.aspx#2856

and bump

Also, about the zune not being able to use an encrypted network - that's not true.  Mine connects to my network fine (WEP), it fails to connect to the PC/zune software.

re: Wireless problems?

Did any of you solve your issue with wireless sync? If not, and you are failing on "connecting to pc..." please check the following items:

- Make sure your firewall is set to allow Zune to connect.

   - Windows XP - UPnP framework and Wireless portable devices must have exclusions

   - Vista - Wireless Portable Devices, and Network Discovery, must have exclusions

   - Third party firewalls - most will need to have WUDF host exception made

- Make sure your PC is connected to the router (wired or wireless)

- On your router, if it has a QoS Settting, turn it off

   - If your router has a UPnP or UDP setting, make sure those are turned on

- Make sure all appropriate services are started in Windows, this includes, Zune Bus Enumerator (XP only), SSDP discovery (Vista), and UPnP

- On XP, try restarting the Zune Bus Enumerator service

- Make sure that another Zune device is not connected to the PC at the same time

- Go to device manager, if there is a Zune with a yellow exclamation point, you have a driver issue. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver manually

- After trying the above steps, try reconfiguring your device for wireless sync in the Zune application

- Rebooting the device (hold <- back, and up on the directional pad) then trying to reconfigure wireless sync, and try to initiate a wireless sync from the device again

re: Wireless problems?
Doesn't work for me, either, and yes - I have been through all these steps. The only way I can get my Zune to connect is when it shows up on the network, I uninstall the drivers, then reinstall. That causes it to be 'found'. Also, when it appears on the network, it never displays it's Zune name. I say this because it did before. Now it doesn't. This is really frustrating.

re: Wireless problems?
I have a Linksys WRTP54G router with firmware 5.01.04 that is managed by Vonage (I believe that they have their own firmware).  I can connect to my wifi network via WEP, however WPA TKIP and WPA AES do not work.  Thoughts?

Have you tried just running in WPA TKIP, instead of WPA TKIP+AES?

re: Wireless problems?
Yes, I have.  WPA TKIP or WPA AES do not work.  I'm actually ok with WEP as I live in BFE and I've turned on MAC filtering...

Regardless, this issue should be resolved for those in the concrete jungle.

Thanks.

I have a Zune 30GB too, and have the same problem. plus my marketplace never goes past updating content, and i let sit there for a hour or so, and nothing happened. Also when I try to send a song to my frined with a Zune 4GB, and it picks up each other, but we cannot exchange because we both get message connection lost, and we are right next to each other. tell me whats up with my wireless.

Well, from what you are describing, it certainly sounds like it could be a wireless hardware problem on the device. I'm sure you have rebooted your device, and/or turned wireless on and off on the device?

What operating system are you running? Does the wireless sync setup complete successfully in the Zune software? If so, when you try to wireless sync, where does it fail? Connecting to PC...?

On your router, make sure that UPnP is enabled, and disable QoS if it has that setting.

Let me know about the above questions and we'll go from there.
