re: Petition!!! Mac/Linux Zune client

Zjarfaru - don't worry about what other people think/say; what you like is what is important not what others like or say you should like/buy.  The zune hd is a damn good device, it needs better apps for sure but it's a really good step that Microsoft has taken.  I really believe that you have hit on some important aspects - Apple and its FUD will sway many apple fanboys from ever buying anything Microsoft; and that factor and the fact it would take millions of dollars and a huge team to port over Windows Media (wmv, wma), it's drm platform and the zune client software it just isn't worth it for the couple mac users.  But the reality is it doesn't matter if Mac users buy the Zune or not; they are a huge minority; even Apple realized that and eventually caved in and produced itunes for Windows; they knew if they wanted to grow their sales they needed to market to Windows uers.  Look at all of their big software - itunes, quicktime, safari - they are all on Windows because Apple knows thats where people are at.  Windows is where everything is at and where it will be at for the next decade;  Microsoft needs to expand its usersbase of Zune to those users first then once it grabs that market can worry about the crumbs (mac/linux users).

My job requires me to be on a Mac... but i love zune and zune pass... sooooo either make a version for mac or eventually ill sell my zune and go ipod. I dont want to... but you are forcing me to MICROSOFT!

Itunes is windows compatable... the iphone is microsoft office compatable!!! They are smart and care about their customers, and understand that some people are forced to use windows. Well i have to use Mac and thats that.

I like my Zune but I'm currently looking to replace it because it won't work with Linux. I hope they make that option available at some point.

i understand how much we need this. Im a mac user and it's killing me! haha. so i created a network: www.zuneformac.ning.com  I'm hoping to get a bunch of members with this same problem to sign up and get the attention of microsoft. We need this! They need to stop being stupid and "exclusive"

The only reason I'm still dual booting Windows & Ubuntu is because of Zune. The minute I find a suitable replacement mp3 player I will begrudgingly get rid of my Zunes. Unless of course someone gets something together so I can use Zune on Linux (I think there's more chance of it being some Linux Community Project rather than Windows but all the same...)

You guys talking about this Apple fans this, apple's FUD that is what's causing microsoft to pull the reigns in tight.  If you guys give the apple this, apple that s*** a break maybe microsoft would actually pay attention to the petitions, communities, and other site posts about the need for a mac client.  and besides once on Mac, Linux users will have an easier time figuring out the code, so we can have the 3OS support Zune needs to survive.  There has to be other people who want to have the two minorities in their pocket and on their desk.  My friend loves linux and gives me one reason he won't buy a zune, no Linux support.  If we get it on mac, Linux users can actually get a chance to hack, which i don't condone, zune to support Linux.  Or Microsoft can see that people want to be able to have zune but can't because of their primary OS isn't windows xp/vista/7.

Hey.. My friends and I use Ubuntu (linux) because we are so tired of windows (hacks, virus.....) and I don't like the idea of spending 1500 for a decent Mac. Zune pass is great. If they don't want me to use it on Ubuntu ok.. But let me Sync my music with Ubuntu...
