Okay, so I've checked, double checked, and TRIPLE checked every last editable option and drop down menu.  I live in Canada, I made sure ALL my info was to set to as such. My regional settings, my Windows Live, even my Zune, all say Canada, but I still get the error message. I have even created and alter email set to 'in the states' and switched everything around to match that, and I still get the error.

Am I doing something wrong? I have singed in using the is account before, but as stated in the forum, I've only come into this problem since the 4.0 'upgrade'.

And as for the people who were ragging on Microsoft for keeping the Zune and all related other products within North America, there are laws which prohibit them from resale in other countries until they have established a set of rules and guidelines that allow and dictate the sale and resale of Zune and related products, including any pay-for podcasts and music and vids.

If anyone can help me, PLEASE!!!!

PS I would advise Microsoft to think of anyother drawbacks beofre launching another upgrade, regional setting are a prime example, very inconvenient.

I see people asking two questions, but only getting answers to one, I'd like to see a response to this so I am going to only ask the one question.


As an allegedly supported Canadian Zune owner, how do I get access to podcasts with no marketplace showing after signing in?

That is disappointing.

How about this then, Is the fact that I cannot see the marketplace to access podcasts mean there is an error that I should contact support with for assistance, or is this by design?

I just want to know where I stand.

For the record, I've tried all the steps suggested and still cannot sign-in.  When I have time, I'll try it on a different computer to determine if it's only this computer or a problem with the Zune software.

You don't have access to the podcast marketplace, BUT you can still add podcasts manually in the collection by clicking the "add podcast" button and copying and pasting the rss feed. Many of podcasts in the zune markeptlace can be found online with their corresponding rss feed.

Great, that is something. I see a few of my podcasts are no longer available, but the ones I was most interested in seem to be working ok.

I wish I had noticed this on my own, but your comment helped a great deal. Much happier now.


Get me access to the marketplace, and I'll be happier still, and better yet, let me give you money via a zunepass, and I'll let you name my first born, well maybe not that, but you get the idea.

Few questions for you:

1) Can you see the marketplace tab in dorado?

2) Have you seen a message that states something like "The features have changed please restart the client"?

3) In your registry, can you navigate to to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER|Software\Microsoft\Zune\, is there a "Features"or "FeaturesOverride" key in there?

4) If so what is the content of those keys?

On the first launch after you changed the regional settings you should have seen a message saying that the features have changed and you need to restart for things to work right.  Once you restart you should see all of the marketplace areas.

2) The first time I launched Zune after the 4.0 upgrade I saw a message similar to "The features have changed please restart the client"?  I don't remember exactly.  I had to confirm a privacy policy and after that the software never let me sign in again.

3) Please see link for screen shot.  There is no "Features" or "FeaturesOverride" key.
