re: Error code C101000B

I should probably move this to a more appropriate forum since it is a download problem, and not a sync problem.

That said, have any of you disabled your anti-virus program for a moment, try to download something from the marketplace, and see if that helps?

Also, this is kind of out there, but have you tried running the Zune software as administrator (those not on XP) by right clicking the Zune shortcut and choosing "run as administrator". Then once the software is launched as administrator, try downloading something again.

Sorry guys, this is not my area of expertise, hopefully we can get this figured out.

re: Error code C101000B
I've been running into this problem as well when I try to download all my new podcasts before heading out for work.  It did start once I upgraded to 4.0.  I thought it might be related to the number of downloads, but it seems to happen if it is 1 download or 10.  Closing my current session then reopening the program helps on occasion.  I'm running Vista and AVG.  It's more of an annoyance than anything.

re: Error code C101000B
I've been encountering this error code only on the songs offered at no charge.  Web Help suggests trying to download again, but when I do so, the Confirm Purchase box states: "You've exhausted the number of times you can restore this item."  Since that happens on the second try, I am effectively blocked from downloading any freebies.  This does not happen to me on songs that I purchase and has only started since I upgraded to 4.0.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

I found a way around this... Well it will help in any future purchases and if you have a wireless router. I set up my zune to sync wirelessly and set it up to buy from the marketplace! It takes a little bit longer to sync to the comp but hey it works. And is hopefully temporary...

I am running into this problem also, it would seem that most us would be running Firefox while running the Zune application, i tested it with fire fox closed that didnt seem to be the problem i do notice if i close out the zune application open it again, that it will download songs seem like an off and on problem for the most of us.

Really frustrates me that they would put ERROR CODE in and yet not to provide a fix, while the error code in first place. just post an error screen. it would seem that Microsoft really has there head up there *** this time

I have attempted to disable A/V then re-download -- still no good. I have also attempted the "workaround" listed in the KB article regarding A/V software causing the Zune software to crash -- also no good.

This is really frustrating. I appreciate that this is not your area of expertise -- could you please keep us apprised on the progress made with the people who are the experts on this?

re: Error code C101000B
I received this error early this morning. This has been the first time I have tried downloading any music file since the Zune update. I tried downloading it wirelessly with my Zune, but it then says that Zune Marketplace is temporarily unavailable. When I click on the song file in my Purchase History within the Zune software, the exclamation point tells me that I have exhausted my download attempts. Anyway, the anti-virus is not a problem, simply because my computer isn't running an anti-virus. Any help would be great.

All right, I got a song to download and be placed in my collection today!  What I did was I disabled real-time malware protection on Windows Defender.  If you want to try this, you'll need to open up Windows Defender, and click on the Options button or link.  Then, there should be a ton of check boxes, saying, "Scan this computer everyday at 3:00am" or something along those lines.  If you scroll down, you'll come to the real-time protection area.  Uncheck the first check box, which says, "Real-time protection (Recommended)" I'd recommend, however, that you turn it back on as soon as you're done! Hopefully there will be a patch or something in the future that can workaround this.

re: Error code C101000B
Here's the thing I don't understand:

Let's assume that the error message is correct - that your antivirus is running slow (despite the fact that it doesn't interfere with any other program you run) and it can't scan the file for some weird reason. Why is the resolution of this situation to delete the file, give an error message, and use up one of your downloads (which, in the case of MP3s, means all of your downloads)? Why not either (a) sandbox the file and try scanning it later, or (b) give the user back their download? After all, the software knows there was an issue with the file - it's showing an error message - and it knows the file was deleted. How can it then claim that you've used up one/all of your downloads? It's preposterous.

If you just let people download the file again, or kept the file hidden until whatever situation is interfering with the antivirus clears up and a proper scan can be executed (and informed the user of this situation), nobody would be complaining about this.

No one had this problem until 4.0. Clearly, something was added in 4.0 that triggers this. What could that possibly have been?

re: Error code C101000B

no fix here just a different config with the same error.

I'm running windows xp pro with IE8 and PC tools as my virus scanner.  I disabled PC Tools and no change.  Are these going to automatically download when this is fixed because it's ticking off the credits.

>edit>  Ok if i disable PC Tools and then reboot it allows me to download.  However it doesn't answer the question on my credits.  I used credits to download songs and I don't have the songs nor the credits.

having the same issue as the rest of you guys, hopefully zune will come up with a fix soon. Seeing as this never happened before 4.0...you'd think it would be an easy fix.
