re: Zune Performance Hog
Dude my computer is older then yours and I don't have that problem. Try Pentium D at 3ghz with a Radeon HD 2600 XT video card

It is taking up 84mb of ram but if I don't move anything but let the player play, the core flucs between 1 to 15% usage

Of course I don't have 15000 songs on my computer either. Which could be your issue.

re: Zune Performance Hog
see I only have over 450 songs.

I can imagine your zune try to shift through 7000 songs and taking up some of your resources try to get it all sorted in just under a couple of minutes.

Over 60K tracks, and on an old PC (Pentium 4, 1GB RAM) it's still very usable... yes, 4.0.

re: Zune Performance Hog

this guy is going to have to watch his task manager processes and sort them by usage high to low.  that'll be the way to find the offending program.  if it is a zune program and not something like svchost.exe then i'd investigate your vid card settings and driver.

did you kill your start up group and non ms services??  you really need to do that first to make sure your a/v software or firewall isn't mucking up the process.

re: Zune Performance Hog
Hi, I have recently updated to the new Zune 4.0 software and when I started using this software, it's been using 100% CPU usage non stop, is extremely slow, and can't seem to find my music after leaving on for ~2 hours. This computer is perhaps old. Running ~800 MHz Pentium III with only 512 MB of RAM. I have about ~4000+  songs stored on an external hard drive, and the Zune software is set to check that folder though it doesn't add ANY music at all. The software just sits at 100% CPU usage. On the Zune 3.0 software, I had no trouble with this EVER, everything worked fine. Is it my computer? Or just faulty software because I'm already sitting here pissed waiting for another update or a solution.

re: Zune Performance Hog

I have 300gb of music I dumped the database when I went to 4.0 and it is reimporting, it is up to 70K songs.

It is using 3-4-5% cpu and 361 megs of ram

When I had my old computer the software was unuseable, it was a core 2 duo 2.4 with 2gb ram

I am on quad core 2.93 w 12gb ram and it scores 7.3 on win7 x64 and it is perfectly useable..

I had some glitches but it is calming down now.

It's awesome that you have that kind of processing power, (still saving money for a new build), but it's ridiculous if the end users have to have Quad Core CPU's just use the Zune software, that's stupid. And the fact that Zune 3.0 ran with NO TROUBLE AT ALL on a slow ass computer like this. Zune 4.0 shouldn't be this kind of a resource hog.

I have a Core 2 Duo 3.00ghz and 4GB RAM. My laptop has a Penium M 1.4ghz and 512MB RAM and it works on there, but it's a little less responsive. Did you turn the rendering slider down and stuff?
