re: Have you gone digital or are you still a CD buying person?

As digital downloads have gotten more common, I've noticed that hard copies of albums are getting cheaper and also a lot of them have extra DVDs. I guess we should all thanks digital distribution for the competition. A few years ago it seems like cds were way more expensive and didn't have as many bonuses.

re: Have you gone digital or are you still a CD buying person?
I tend to buy songs here and there online, but there's something special about buying a hard copy of the CD. I'm more likely to put it into my CD player and listen to it all the way through. If I listen to my Zune I just tend to go to the same songs over and over again, but before I would fall in love with a CD from the first to last song.

re: Have you gone digital or are you still a CD buying person?
I still buy CDs more often. I only recently started buying digital albums. I'm pretty cheap and have always refused to pay more than $12 for a CD, so even paying $10 for digital album is too much. I really only buy either if they're super cheap. I'm really digging Amazon's album of the day feature. The most I've paid for a digital album is $6 and I think that's basically my breaking point. And as already mentioned, I'm seeing some CDs dropping in price. Often cheaper than the digital album. Some online stores will give you instant digital downloads if you buy the CD so you can listen to it before you get it (but I'm still waiting). I like have all the album artwork and some of those stores (mostly record company websites) will give you digital copies of that too. I back up my purchases like crazy.

re: Have you gone digital or are you still a CD buying person?

I'm a CD person.

I will download the occasional song digitally, but I like to physically be able to have the CD. I don't really know why, I just like having my huge collection of CD's to be able to show, play, etc.

Plus, buying a CD gives me the opportunity to find some new songs that I like and may not have known about by just downloading the mp3.

It depends. When it comes to an artist I like, I tend to just download. But movie soundtracks, broadway plays, full albums that I want...it's easier just to buy the CD than search for each song individually (which is how my download program works. You get what you pay for, I guess. :/)

I don't really buy any digitial copies of everything, I'd rather have the cd or record. When it comes to music online, I buy used cds and what not from Amazon, but I don't get jiggy with the marketplace and all that. I just love going to a record store and thumbing through the cds and vinyl. I still buy cds based on the album art if I don't know the artist. I'd rather rip the music myself, that way I can name the files how I want as well. I'll go completely digital when I have no choice.

I'm still a CD guy, mainly because I'm hearing that digital downloads are 128 or 192 bit sampling. I rip at the max that media player can handle (320 - MP3), plus I'm scared that my download woill only be usable on 1 computer because of the copyright. Let me know if this is no longer true...

It's not true. Amazon mp3s are DRM free so nothing to stop you from moving them to another computer and they are all 256 kbps.

I do a lot more buying of CD's than digital, not necessarily because it might be cheaper or more expensive, but because it sounds better to have a hard copy of what I buy, since it's a lot easier to lose digital music than a CD

Shoot I'm still buying vinyls.  Bought this 1960ish record player so I could buy some LP's for studying music.  All that hype about vinyls being more warm and such is crud. . . unless the problem is the old player or the warped old records I bought for 200 for $40.

APPLE does this BS.  You dont want to know how mad I got when I discovered that after finally going legit I can't move my own PURCHASED property around.  iTunes is a rip off.  Amazon ftw.
