None taken...I agree...I have also heard them called indie rock...go figure!!?? Sub genres are a matter of opinion, in my opinion. I would not call Dream Theater METAL as I don't think their style of play or song writing is the same as say Godsmack or Linkin Park or Bullet.......Since they compose more extravagant songs and many layers throughout one of their 15 min songs.....I call that Progressive. Kansas has the same long theatrical 10+ minute songs but DT is much harder. So I have a genres in my Collection I call ProgRock and ProgMetal.
I suppose you could have genres called RockClassic and RockMetal.........for like Led Zeppelin and Disturbed.
