For me, I suppose Marcus Miller, Brian Bromberg, Victor Wooten and I must admit I'm partial to Kim Stone from the Rippingtons. I've seen them in concert a few times and I liked his style and showmanship.  Although his technique may not be as refined as the artist I've already mention he does play a mean bass.

For me, the best all-around bassist would have to be John Patitucci. He plays acoustic upright, electric 4, 5 & 6strings.
