re: Zune Speaker Docks

When you say your "Altec Lansing", can you tell us which model?  I think both of them available on this website are that brand, one of the models has received a good review and the other a bad review.  Just wondering if you are saying something different than what others have said.

Thank you!

I have the M604.  From what I hear, it is better than the other one they offer.

re: Zune Speaker Docks

The M604 is pretty solid.  The bass isn't non-existent, but it's not particularly emphatic, either.

Otherwise, I'm pleased with the sound.  It's loud enough to capably fill my fairly large master bedroom without any distortion.  If you're expectations are within reason, I don't think you'll be disappointed (especially if you get it on sale from an online retailer).

I haven't heard both speakers, but the one review I read said the M604 has better sound.  It stands to reason -- the M604 is larger than the iM414, has more speakers, and launched at double the price.

yes but with some hunting you should be able to find the M604 for less than the inMotion 414.

I'm from the government, I'm here to help you.

becuase they have had it on woot twice for $40, you can get them on ebay for about $55 right now.  Unless that has gone down.

I was actually looking for reviews about either.  Whichever was commonly referred to as "the better one".

To everyone else, so the sound quality on the M604 is better but the remote looks more barebones than the inMotion one.  Does the M604 lack a lot of the functionality of the inMotion or does it handle itself just fine?  Do either allow you to browse the Zune adequately?

The m604 remote onlt allows you to go to next or previous song.  You can't actually navigate throught the zune say from one artist to another.

I hope this helps.

re: Zune Speaker Docks

I had read all types of posts that the zune doesnt' work w/ bose but i tried mine w/ my bose wave radio last night and it works fine.
Had to turn up the volume pretty high on the wave but sounds great..not sure why people are saying its not compatible w/ bose..No charger of course, just listen only.

re: Zune Speaker Docks
I have to agree with one of the previous posters. I have an 80 Gig Zune with my 400 CD collection on it. I run it through my audio system. An amplifier and BIG speakers. Sounds incredible, and the plug cost me 5 bucks. Most of the speaker docks I have heard are not the quality you would get with an audio system. The ONLY system I heard that sounds really good is the Bose dock, but that is for the iPod. Unless you hook it up to a Wave Radio as the previous poster did, but I haven't heard what that sounds like....should be good............. YMMV.

Yes, but some people (like myself) don't have a nice audio system for starters.  I don't make a ton of money and personally don't have a bunch of space either so just a nice dock that produces good sound (not sublime sound) would be great to have.

One of those features that seems absolutely necessary right now would be the ability to browse the Zune with a remote.  It just makes too much sense in this day and age that these speaker docks should come with that functionality.

Hint hint Microsoft and Robbie Bach.  The SYNC™ platform seems to do the trick in cars, why not make something just as easy for some officially branded Zune speaker docks?
