re: Connecting the Zune HD to a browser-based login Internet/WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Support

I live on Long Island, NY, where cablevision has wireless Internet coverage for the
subscribers.

I am unable to connect to this service and feel that the inability to do so really curtails
my enjoyment of this otherwise fantastic device. The iTouch does not have this problem.

One would think that MS would be tired by now of getting out-classed by Apple, particularly
over something as simple as this.

Please fix this Microsoft! I am at school for the major part of the day and would love to connect to the internet on campus with my Zune HD. I have to enter student credentials and the player just asks for a password. I hope this can be fixed soon. Other than this problem the player is great!

re: Connecting the Zune HD to a browser-based login Internet/WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Support
I am having the same problem trying to login to my college campus' wifi network. With my laptop, when I open my web browser it directs me to an authentication page where I enter my student credentials in, but when I try to connect with the HD it just gives me the same "local area network only" message.

Microsoft please fix this soon! It's just about my only complaint about the device (short of new apps.. but I know, I know, I'll be patient!)

I've been holding out on purchasing one of these, I really want one, but it is totally unacceptable to me as is without better connectivity options.  And MS's lack of news on this is not very encouraging.

re: Connecting the Zune HD to a browser-based login Internet/WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Support
I attend the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign, and I also have to log into the browser to fully connect to the internet. The whole logging in process goes fine at first, but once I'm actually logged in, the Zune goes to a screen that usually appears as a small pop-up on the desktop to refresh the log-in session every couple of minutes automatically. My problem is that that small popup takes up the whole screen on the Zune and if I try going to another website after that, it just redirects me to the initial log-in screen. I guess that's because if I leave that pop-up screen, then the campus internet thinks that I logged out, thus have to re-log in again. It's really frustrating because I really wanted to take advantage of the campus wide free wifi.

I think my problem could easily be solved if there was simple tabular browsing. I read somewhere that the November update is working to help college students trying to access wifi on the Zune. Hopefully my issue would be resolved by that update too.

I've had my Zune for less 24 hours so far, and I'm really lovin it!

re: Connecting the Zune HD to a browser-based login Internet/WPA/WPA2 Enterprise Support
I've had my Zune since September 15, and I have never gotten my internet to work. I always get error messages saying 'your zune cannot associate with this network. please try again.' I get the same message or a different error message in a wifi spot as well. Am I the only who cannot connect to the internet?

Read some of the earlyer posts. But basicly no you arn't the only one. The issue is the Type of  wireless internet you're trying to connect to.
