Everyday I come here hoping there would be an announcement, and I get disappointed every time.
I read that article saying that the Zune video service will be available in a lot of others countries... Does that mean we are getting the Zune HD too?

God I hope so. But that's not what it means. It means they are merging the Xbox and Zune video store together to get on demand HD movies and TV shows for Xbox and Zune (and I'm guessing PC as well). Unfortunately, without a Zune HD it's only the Xbox 360 that Canadians will able to watch HD videos. Our Zunes would only be able to play SD videos, which is alright I guess. There's nothing about music, podcasts, or games / apps coming to Canada. And the Zune Pass is one of the major selling points of the Zune HD so many are assuming that without it Microsoft won't want to sell it in Canada. But I bet if they brought videos, podcasts, and apps to Canadian marketplace it will still sell fine. Worry about getting record labels signatures on the go-ahead later I guess. It's better than nothing.

No Zune HD in Canada.

That article is referring back to when some one who works for Microsoft in France said that it's only in US for the time being right before the player launched. That's from what I can remember though, correct me if I'm wrong. Some websites are starting to believe that Microsoft is hinting at their first steps for international support for when the Zune video service hits Xbox 360's in 17 countries in November. Apparently the Zune HD is "selling like hotcakes". Maybe international recognition among gamers in other countries and high sales, as well as demand in other countries as well as the US will convince Microsoft to try harder at getting the player and some services (like the video marketplace) to other countries even if they are having trouble getting the Zune Pass service to those countries. Besides, the Zune was available in Canada for a little over a year without Marketplace or anything. I mean, it didn't sell as well I guess but with the Zune HD it may be another story and they might repeat the process. That's just wishfull thinking though, we'll probably get screwed like we always do.

Let me say that I am highly anticipating a November release of the Zune HD in Canada. I am telling all my friends wanting to purchase "new" iPods to wait till November for something a lot better.

An official press release stating whether or not the Zune HD will be released internationally would be bomb so I can stop waiting and buy an iPod touch.

There's no official word that it's coming in November, just speculation. The rumor is that the next Xbox update to merge Zune video and Xbox Live video will happen in November and that's coming to Canada and other countries. There has been nothing said of an official November Canadian launch for the Zune HD. I think if your friends want the new iPods they should just go ahead and buy them.

I have a 16gb iPod Touch atm which doesn't come close to holding my 30gb of music. And instead of just buying a 32gb iPod I'd rather get the better more innovative ZuneHD 32GB.

No, I understood what you were saying. I'm sort of doing the same thing. Howeveer I'm debating either waiting until there's something official stated in November like you are, or just go across the border and buy one. They're currently sold out right now so i don't really have a choice but to wait so I might as well just wait until November anyways. What I'm saying is if your friends really want an iPod and there's no certainty of the Zune HD ever coming to Canada why not just let them buy what they want? Is them buying an iPod really going to affect your Zune purchase? I mean, I'd understand if there was Zune-to-Zune sharing because I use that feature a lot when I'm with friends who have Zunes, but that feature was taken out so I don't really see why they shouldn't buy an iPod if they want one. Sorry if it sounds stupid but I just don't get it.

yea i might be going down to the USA for this thanksgiving and i dont know if i should wait until they come into Canada, because somebody pointed out that MS might change the HD radio into DRM ( i think that is what is it called) radio. it is like Canada's and Europe's version of HD radio.

I don’t understand what’s going on in the Zune department of M$. The Zune HD's are flying off shelves in the US and there is no word on possibly bringing something popular in the US to a very similar country like Canada where Zune is already popular???? I can't even order off the Zune site. When I go to checkout it say choose your state/province!! But the provinces aren’t listed?? Why don't they want to release something that has gotten rave reviews and good customer feedback to other countries????

 

And the Software. ITunes already has made a iTunes Canada where we can buy, videos, songs, podcast est. but Zune has still not given Canadians anything but podcast which after the new software update you can no longer add new podcast to your collection. In the word of AVGN "what were they thinking" they could at least make an official statement like "we are shooting towards a holiday release for Canada blah blah blah but they don’t say ***.
