This forum is for Zune 3.0 software...but since you are running on Vista I'll give you this tip (from reading every darn forum I could trying to find my fix):  Right click on the ZUNE software shortcut and select RUN AS and select Administrator.  That seems to be a biggie.  I'm running 3.1 software on WinXP so I really can't give you any help beyond that.

Another Microsoft product that has you spending days trying to get it to work right or at all.  I bought a Zune for my son and it worked just fine till I upgraded to 3.0.  Now it won't sync, and when trying to use the Zune software to browse to your music folder it hangs with the hour glass at the My Documents folder. 
I am running:
Windows XP SP3 - All updates, current.
Zune 3.1
 
I have tried everything on these support forms and no luck. Been working on this for 3 days now...... 
 
Uninstall, reinstall, system restore, uninstall, reinstall, uninstall driver, reinstall driver, switch USB ports, uninstall, reinstall driver.  Uninstall software, reinstall software.... what a bunch of crap!!  
 
This is the LAST Microcrap product I ever buy!  No one should have to spend days or hours trying to get a Zune to work right.
 
If there were know issues with the upgrade to 3.0 then everyone should have been warned about upgrade issues BEFORE installing this upgrade not after. 
 
My advice to everyone reading this support form is to put your Zune back in the box and return it for a refund and purchase an Apple Ipod, and then go home and enjoy your new Ipod instead of spending hours looking through tech support documents trying to get your new Zune to work.
 
The problem now is, the Zune is to small to use as a door stop. 
 
Pissed off in Dallas.

Device type? zune 120

Operating system?win7 RC7100

Specific issue you are having? zune device not recognized, center and directional buttons non responsive, no driver issues

Exact steps you took before the issue occurred?  play button was non responsive so I tried to update player from within Zune software, zune device was in "please wait a moment" screen for about 1 hour before I unplugged it

Things you have tried to fix the issue? cleared contents of device, removed device from Zune software, and tried to re install the device

Did this work prior to the 3.0 release? yes

Specific issue you are having? My Zune is not recognized by the Zune software so I cannot sync any new content.

Exact steps you took before the issue occurred? I updated to the newest Zune software.

Things you have tried to fix the issue? I have gone through device manager to see if it was a driver problem but there isn't one. I have tried reestablishing the sync status but the software refuses to let me sync anything.

Did this work prior to the 3.0 release? I didn't have this issue prior to the new release.
