Streaming to 360 from Zune 4.0
Has anyone been able to get this working?

I have Zune 4 running on my Vista Ultimate (x64) desktop and my Vista Home Premium (x64) notebook. Both run Live OneCare for anti-virus and firewall. The 360 can't connect to either one of these machines using Zune, but I can connect using Windows Media Player 11 on both.

The 360 had a few suggestions, like opening TCP ports 2869 and 10243 and UDP ports1900 and 10280-10284. Nothing works.

Have I overlooked something?

Edit: I also enabled sharing in Zune.

is your 360 using a wireless connection or hardwire? mine didn't work with my laptop until i ran a cable from my router to the 360. the laptop doesn't need to be hardwired for me just the 360. not really sure why. large data exchange would be my best guess.

The PC is wired and the 360 is wireless. I'll get a hold of a cable long enough for the 360 to see if that is the cause.

Now my desktop and 360 are hardwired to the same switch. Same problem.

I'm not sure what else to try.

Not that your issues bring me pleasure, but I'm happy that I'm not the only one in this boat. Perhaps the Zune team will have time to address it in the near future.

re: Streaming to 360 from Zune 4.0

Hi,

With Zune 3.x on Vista I had to start the software using the "Run as administrator" to configure the software to enable sharing with the Xbox 360; after the sharing option was configured I could start the Zune software as usual and I was able to stream music/videos/pictures. My Xbox used to be wireless and my desktop wired, now the Xbox is using a powerline connection and my desktop is still wired.

I upgraded my Zune 3.x to 4.0 and streaming still works.

I hope this helps.

was it configured properly before you ran as admin?

I have to admit that I didn't think Darth Enet's suggestion would work, but it did! Thank you very much.

Edit: Well, the 360 will now connect to Zune, but it won't play any music. It claims that my tracks (both MP3s and Zune Pass) aren't compatible. My guess is that the problem is caused by my music being stored on my Windows Home Server. Oh well, I'm one step closer to getting this sorted out.

re: Streaming to 360 from Zune 4.0
Okay running the zune as administrator worked to get the zune to stream to the 360 but the next problem I am running into is that while my music is showing up from the hard drive I have pointed it to the video and photos are trying to stream fromt he download folders and not their proper hard drives.  Any thoughts on how to fix this?

re: Streaming to 360 from Zune 4.0
I'm having a similar issue as well...I tried running the Zune software as administrator, and I can now see the named media collection on my 360 that's supposed to be shared, but it only shows the songs that are stored on a local hard drive. All the media I have on my Windows Home Server network share doesn't show up at all (though it shows up and plays fine in the actual Zune software).

It worked fine before 4.0, so did the network share stuff get broken during the update?
