Anyone like the female side of metal???

I like some metal but I don't like male metal. IDK it's weird. But I LUV the female side of it. Luv Sinergy, Otep, Epica (getting into them slowly), and some of the lighter side of metal like Within Temptation and Lacuna Coil.

Anyone w/ me?

In This Moment, Arch Enemy, Kittie and Nightwish (I'm going to see them live this spring, if they don't cancel the tour again). I like women in metal.

New Amon Amarth song available, check out their myspace!

re: Anyone like the female side of metal???
The thing with female metal is the vocals are usually too much on the light side while the music is jammin crazy riffs. In my opinion bands like Kittie and Arch enemy really grasp metal vocally. Even though Kittie has some "clean" vocals they still go back and growl better then some guys I have heard. Don't get me wrong bands like lacuna Coil and In this moment have great vocals, beautiful voices, but I just don't like it so much because it takes away from the music and focuses more on the vocals. And I don't mean offense to any female vocalist, keep slammin' how you think is best. Thats the best part of metal is that it is up to the band members to define their own sound and do whatever they think is best for their band. More power to the female vocalists of metal.

I seem to be in the middle of a bit of female fronted power metal band trend with my listening. That and stoner doom metal. So yes. Yes I do totally love female fronted metal. To-Mera is a band that instantly leaps to mind when talking about this topic. Anyone posting positive feedback should check this out. Now.

Jessica Kinney of The Hammers of Misfortune did vocals in the last WitTR album and her voice is just simply amazing. :)

Lunatica is not too bad...this is more symphonic metal so the girls vocals work a bit better. Also Lauren Harris (Steve Harris' daughter from Iron Maiden) she does a pretty good job. Her album is called "Calm Before the Storm"

She toured with Iron Maiden this past summer...was pretty good on stage.

Walls of Jericho, although leaning more towards the metalcore side of things, have a female vocalist that, in my opinion, absolutely trumps Angela Gossow. Angela may have the raspy death metal voice suited for Arch Enemy, but Candace beats her out in terms of sheer ferocity and passion.
