Deleting friends in zune but not xbox live?
I know that your zune friends and xbox live friends are integrated and the same, but is there a way, or will be in the future to only delete friends from the social, but still have them appear on xbox live and vise versa?

I only know a couple people with a Zune and hate having so many social friends with blank zune info and my social friends with blank xbox live info when i'm playing xbox.

Maybe we can get a toggle in the future, so that we don't actually have to delete any friend but toggle where they and their information will show up?

At the moment, you cannot do that. I think MS has a focus on community so splitting up the 2 communities doesn't seem likely.

Any questions? Message me and I can help.

re: Deleting friends in zune but not xbox live?
This is something that would be really handy. I didn't put any of the friends without a Zune onto my Zune, but it would be nice to have a toggle that works both ways.

I added a bunch of people yesterday to my Zune account.  When I jumped onto my Xbox, there were six or seven new people with question marks beside their name.  They never had a 360, so I don't want them on my 360, but if I remove them from my 360, they will be gone from my Zune as well.

Bad decision, MS.  Fix it please.

We are very aware of the limits and frustrations of a shared system and are looking at other solutions for the future.

Are there Xbox users out there, though, who like having a shared friends list?

Oh I definitely like it, I just wish more of my friends had both an xbox and zune like I do. Since they don't, a toggle would be perfect. If that's even possible...

No. I would also like a MUCH higher friends list cap, thanks. Stick out tongue [:P]

Just an idea: If friends lists got separated, XBL friends who also have Zune Social should be added to your Zune FL.

re: Re: re: Deleting friends in zune but not xbox live?
I don't mind having the friend lists shared, but have a few comments (some echoing others here).
  1. If there were a way for the Xbox to detect whom of my Zune friends had an Xbox, and automatically filter out those that don't, and likewise if The Social could detect whom of my Xbox friends had a Zune and automatically filter out those that don't, that would be very nice.  I bet it wouldn't be too hard to program such a filter on The Social.  Probably not much more than an extra clause in the Where statement on the SQL query that pulls up the friends list.  Not sure how complex a task it would be for the Xbox, all things considered.
  2. If those on The Social without an Xbox cannot be filtered from the Xbox list, they should not count against the 100 friend limit.  And/or the 100 friend limit should be increased.  Not that I am anywhere near that limit, but I know many people who are and they would be thrilled with an increase.  I know this limit is a technical one due to hard coding of original Xbox games.  I would think there's got to be a way around it though.  There's always a solution.
  3. If friends can not be filtered from the lists they don't apply to, at least sort them to the bottom - I think The Social may already do this, actually, since the list is sorted by recent activity.  Not sure about Xbox.  They probably just sort in alphabetically with the rest of the offline users, below the online users, but if they could sort all the way to the bottom that would be even better.

I like it. I just wish that 1.) you had more friend spots and didn't have to share the 100 2.) it showed what your friends where listening to on the Xbox 360 friends list.

I like it in the fact that if my XBL friends get a zune, they will show up.  However, it would be nice if they didn't if they don't have zune social information.  Not that big of a deal though.  More of an issue on the xbox side than the zune.

I have a 360 and a Zune 80 and I don't mind using shared friend list but I wish they would at least give you more friend slots if you have both systems... maybe as an incentive.

On an unrelated note, I wish people viewing my Xbox profile would have my Zune social info on there too - including badges and recent music and everything - that would be pretty cool. (Could make more people in my friend list buy Zunes.)

re: Deleting friends in zune but not xbox live?
I think that having a shared friends list is a great idea.  But, I definitely, would like a way of managing the lists.  Of all my XBL friends, only 1 has a Zune, and seeing all those ugly empty squares is annoying.
Also, when I sent out a friends request through the Social, the request also showed up as 'Pending' in my XBL list.   It woluld be cool if there was a choice to 'Also add, so-and-so, to your friends on XBL?'

Yeah, that would be cool. Thanks for the idea.
