Foreign Zune Users?
A guy I met golfing went ape for my Zunes (old 30 and 8), and wants to buy an 80 and an 8. He lives in Brazil, though, and I could not tell him if Zune will work there, or if there are issues with ISPs/software/Windows versions? He also said he'd probably need to buy prepaid marketplace cards to subscribe, as MS evidently thinks all credit cards issued outside the US and Western Europe are bogus.

Mike,

I am pretty sure that will be the case.  I am a service member stationed over seas and I don't get support, so I have a feeling your friend will be in the same fix.  I have to go find out where I can buy points cards here in Japan.

If your Zune account is based in the US you should be able to do whatever you want....  I am in Canada (registered in Alabama) and I can use all of the market place features ( I havent tried to actually buy from the market place yet) ( i am the type of guy who likes to have things in my hands)....  but if you had a card it should activate online as if you were in the states (i beleive)...

Can't you get into legal trouble for that? Since the rights to alot of stuff on the marketplace is America only.

Well, that depends on what features you will be using. Especiallly using the marketplace can be troublish.

Jason Dunn at Zune Thoughts has written a nice article about that. You can find it here
