Error code C00D1197 (Zune not syncing/adding songs)
So I thought the Zune was going to be easy to use, easy to upload music, easy to upload videos.

It seems I was wrong. I have 2833 songs that I wanted to sync into my Zune.
I set the folder, let it auto-sync and now I only have 286 songs on my Zune and 2547 songs not synced/not added.

So I think, maybe it's the auto-sync thats messing it up. So I set it so I manually choose which songs I want to sync.
I select the songs I wanted to sync, dragged them into the Zune icon on the bottom left of the software and the results are basically the same with a little less songs uploaded onto the Zune.

Then I decide, let me go check the Zune forums/support to see if it'll help me out.
I minimize the Zune software and go to the Zune forums to check if anyone else has the same problem.
I open up the Zune software and hey look! The Zune software removed 122 songs.

By the way, every single song is MP3, unprotected. I went through every single song to check.

I'm very very frustrated right now and I'm wondering if anyone knows whats wrong or knows how to fix this?

Error code C00D1197 (Zune not syncing/adding songs)
Now not only does it remove my music, it also removed all the videos I uploaded and now it won't re-sync my videos.

Any help?

re: Error code C00D1197 (Zune not syncing/adding songs)

I had the same problem, although not quite as bad as you.  I eventually right clicked on one of the songs that wouldn't sync, went to Properties and found that the path to the song was incorrect (the wrong drive letter for example).  I have no idea why the wrong paths were associated with some songs, but they were.  I deleted the songs from my collection and then went to the software settings and hit the "Restore" button next to "Restore files previously deleted from collection " and this fixed most of my problems.  I hope this will help you as well.

Let me know how it turns out.

Well apparently the Zune software just likes to annoy me because I connected my Zune and turned on the software and now it's syncing fine.

I hope it stays this way and not remove all my songs again. Big Smile [:D]

Nope, it helped a bit. Instead of 200 some songs, I've got 800 something now. But I still want to get all my songs into my Zune device, any help guys?

Thanks.

use ww.mp3tag.de/en and keep these id3 metadata tags on all your albums/songs: track#, title, album, artist, album artist (band), year, genre.  Any other tag is not necessary.

delete the trouble tracks from your collection and add them again by draggin and droping the songs from windows explorer into your collection.

or just rebuild your collection after fixing your tags. resync.

Which device do you have?

re: Error code C00D1197 (Zune not syncing/adding songs)

Are you still stuck at the sub-1000 tracks sync'ed to the device?

What I can tell about the error is that it means "Cannot find the file" - how does that relate to you?  Well....  does your content live in the default music directory?  On an external drive?  On a network share?

I have a lot of suggestions we can try, but one of which requires formatting the device, the other requres rebuilding your library.  I'd also like to "forget" the device and start over in either guest mode or manual mode.

let me know if you want to walk through these and we can start.

thanks.

re: Error code C00D1197 (Zune not syncing/adding songs)
Well the directory that my music is in is on a network. The reason for that is because I bought a 1TB external-HD and the software somehow refused to install onto my computer, so I ended up installing it onto my brothers computer and shared it on the network. The sharing settings are set so I can alter or move items from the drive so I shouldn't have a problem with uploading it onto my Zune

I wouldn't know why it would say "Cannot find the file" because I can play the music from my computer just fine.

And to the suggestions, which one would be faster and doesn't need to move/copy my music from the external-HD onto my own computer? (It's 10GB's of music, it'll take at least 2-3 days to even move.)

re: Error code C00D1197 (Zune not syncing/adding songs)

I don't think it would need to be moved onto your local PC, leaving it on the network should be OK for now.

I would do the following -

Unmonitor the network folder in the Zune Software via Settings.

Close Zune.

Reset the software library by doing the following:

1.           Navigate to the following directory (OS Specific):

      a.       XP: %homepath%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Zune

      b.      Vista: %homepath%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Zune

2.           There should be a file of your library called zunestore.sdf

3.           Rename the file to zunestore.bak

OK, relaunch the Zune software.  At this point, you will either have no library or whatever content you have in the default music locations.  Remonitor the network location and wait for the music to reappear in the Zune Software Library.

Attach device.  You should get a prompt of some sort that the device is associated with another computer.  You may only see this in device settings.  I suggest connecting as a guest.  Once all that has happened, go ahead and try syncing your content again, but you'll have to do it manually, you can just drag n drop from within the Zune software onto the device icon.

Let me know if it works...  I will check in again on Monday.
