re: Latino music swap

I pretty much like anything except regaeton.  Bachata and salsa would be tops for me then, chilena, merengue, some corridos, ranchero,  k paz de la sierra. I used to work with the majority of the members del grupo "Impacto Musical" (Not yet famousWink [;)]). Latino music would be music that come from any of the spanish speaking countries to be the broadest definition. Also it can come from their descendents that live in other countries or just made by people who are inspired by Latino culture.  Latino Music should include some spanish or atleast be derived from the musical styles that arose from the merging of african, indigenous, and other culturals in what is commonly known as Latin America. Anyways lets talk music Tongue Tied [:S]

This is what I have in my collection:

Frank Reyes

Alex Bueno

Hector Acosta

Marc anthony

India

Victor Manuelle

Jerry rivera

Frankie Negron

Grupo Niche

Lupillo Rivera

Andy Andy

Carlso Vives

La banda gorda

Zacaria Ferreira

Son By Four

X treme

K-paz de la sierra

Tigres del norte

Toby Love

Elvis Crespo

Christian Castro

Collection still relatively small. I have English  music as well, its all good.

re: Latino music swap

lol i love reggaeton. why dont you like it? Confused [*-)]

K-Paz de le Sierra is alright. i have a song by them; tragic what happend to the one singer.

yeah, i understand what "Latin" music is. i was asking because cholo/gangster/Chicano rap could also fall into this category. so i was wondering if you also mean to include that.

dance to.. reggaeton. ha ha. ummm el pasito Duranguense is a lil difficult.. but its managable. i usually dont mind what i dance to but i dont like that techno/trance stuff.

ha ha Christian Castro, K-paz de la Sierra, Lupillo Rivera, Tigres del norte.. thats so Mexican. Stick out tongue [:P]

i tend to not listen to most of it.. not that oompa pa pa stuff, though. i like it and all, but it seems really repetitive to me.

and i think that Elvis Crespo sings horribly.. he sings through his nose No [N]

im not about to list what Spanish-speaking artists i have 'cause i have 2363 songs on my Zune. Big Smile [:D]

have you listened to:

Mana

Shakira

Juanes

Julieta Venegas

Kumbia All-Starz

Orishas

Carlos Santana

Los Super Reyes

Alacaranes Musical

Cafe Tacuba

Calle 13

Selena

La 5ta Estacion

Gypsy Kings

El Buki

Kinky

Pepe Aguilar

Alejandro Fernendez

Sin Bandera

re: Latino music swap

Diablo 2363 songs, I guess there is nothing I have that you don't

How Ironic your Mexican and don't like Mexican Music and I'm Puerto Rican and I hate Ragaeton; it has too many parallels with hip hop(another genre I'm not crazy about). However I did like that one song that had some Indian style music  I guess its who we hang with. I work with and subsequently am friends with a lot of mexican and south american immigrants.

Mexican music is good drinking musicWink [;)] it helps mend a broken heartSad [:(]

I can't see myself blacking out and then waking up under the table from listening to Daddy yankee, but turn on some Vicente Fernandez y ahi me salen las lagrimasCrying [:'(]Big Smile [:D] then i feel happy. Elvis crespo's voice is not the most important thing, lyrics and voice don't really matter in merengue, as long as the rhythem is good and get those hips moving.

Mana, I heard 3 songs from them Bendita la luz, mariposa de amor, and labios compartidos. Mana makes better syrup than maple treesStick out tongue [:P] Thats all I heard from them and probably all I would want to hear. Juanes is pretty good volverte a ver is an old song but still one of my favs. Do you like bachata and salsa too.

What part of Mexico is your family from.

re: Latino music swap

lol well you do have songs and artists that i dont have. i mean i only have one song from Alacranes Musical, two from Intocable, one from Banda Machos.

dont get me wrong, i do like rancheras, banda music and all that. i just.. i donno. makes me feel hella Mexican. hmmm now that i think of it, its not a bad thing to feel that way, its just that its expected of me to like that kinda music. i guess im just rebelling. idk.

the only songs i like by Daddy Yankee are on Barrio Fino. and even then, i can do without them sometimes.

but omg do i adore Wisin & Yandel.

LOL 'Cente Fernandez makes the granny panties drop. his son does the same for the younger crowd. the dude looks good for his age. like damn. Stick out tongue [:P] ha ha

question: what do you mean by "Mexican music"??

as in artists and genre. 'cause theres a lot.

some Mexican music is American country in Spanish. and norteño music came from German polka.

now why would you be blackout out in the first place?!?? lol Beer [B]

i know that the voice isnt the most important thing. but its there, isnt it?? and the guy talks the same way. its really annoying. i know hes good at what he does; i know hes won various awards in his genre.

you've heard three songs from the single greatest band to come outta Mexico, when they've been around longer than ive been alive..???

since 1981, they've been around since 1981 and you've only heard three of their songs?!?!? Huh? [:^)]

over 25 albums, 19 singles, over 41 awards from Billboard, Grammy's, MTV, Premio Lo Nuestro, Premios Juventud, World Music Awards, etc, world wide tours, and DVD's.... and you've only listened to three songs...? Indifferent [:|]

i like Juanes. i have three of his albums and ive seen him in concert. hes great. Yes [Y]

all i know that is considered bachata is Juan Luis Guerra and Aventura. salsa.. i like it with tortilla chips, thanks.

mi papá es Chilango y mi mamá es de Chihuahua. yo naci en Tijuana.

re: Latino music swap

I guess down in Texas Bachata and salsa are not so big(Probably wrong), but juan luis guerra is a horrible example of bachata aventura sings atypical  style bachata with a lot of influences from other music genres. Bachata is mostly about love and is the most sensual and easiest dance in my opinion to come out of Latin America. Its fun to dance salsa and to watch people dancing it , but I'm too self conscious to do it.  If you ever come to NY let me know I'll take you to dance Bachata. You are 21 or just about I assume.

Guess I'm being general when I say Mexican Music, but you get the idea. It is more stereotypical for you to try to stay away from your parents culture, as an American, than trying to keep it a part of your life.  I used to be like that and felt all icky about Latin Music until I grew up and found out it is so beautiful(I'm mixed ethnicity Puerto Rican and Thai with a stepfather from Guerrero). I remember when I was in college at Drexel university it felt weird to be the only person in my dorm to be listening to Spanish music.  Most of the people in my school were Gringos, they hated my music Devil [6] because they don't not understand it.

Let me know if you want any copies of the bachata and salsa I can send you some discs, to a PO box if you like, no I'm not some weirdo stalker.Indifferent [:|]Some people get freaked out, and hey you never know these days

And whats up with the insanely long hair.  Some chicks look good like that. When your 4'1" tall it gives an elongating effect to the body.Big Smile [:D]

Zip it! [:#]LOL I'll stop there. No soy culpable I'm not a steroetyper its you fault.Big Smile [:D]Stick out tongue [:P]

You in school now.

re: Latino music swap

Texas?? why would i care what up in TX?? Tongue Tied [:S]

heres an idea: gimme the artist name and song title so i can download.. i mean file share the songs. Wink [;)]

that way, you wont spend any money shipping things to me out here in So Cal.

i might actually be going out to NY for my spring break on a road trip with my dad. its all still up in the air right now; its not a for sure thing yet.

lol yeah, im 21. i turned 21 about a week ago.. 24 feb.

im not trying to stay away from my parents' culture; i love where i come from. they dont listen to rancheras or banda music, i didnt grow up listening to that. my momz all into reggae and mellowed out stuff; Bob Marley, Santana, Big Mountain. my dadz into punk, rock, punk rock.

and i have those artists and genres on my Zune. Big Smile [:D]

oh hell no, i blast my music regardless of whoz around. unless im at work.. then i have to make sure i dont play any overly explicit music that could further corrupt the minds of these troubled kids. Angel [A]

ha ha im not 4'1"... im 5'5½" tall. and for a Mexican girl, that is tall.

lol my Status is all things that people would assume from me 'cause im Mexican: im not Catholic, i dont have any kids, im not a high school drop out, i didnt have a quinceañera, i dont eat at Taco Bell.. things like that. they've all been my Status at one point in time.

my fault?!?!?

yeah, im in school. college.

you??
