C00D1249 Error

I dropped my Zune this morning on my kitchen floor-its wood--I am 5' tall so it dropped from a height of about 2'.  I had been trying to change the background.  Boom-the screen went all crazy playing my pictures endlessly then it went blank.  I tried to restart it but it wouldn't.  On the way to work in my van pool I tried to start it again and the screen sorta came on --it was lightly backlit.  When I got to work I got online and found some answers but I didn''t have my computer cord. I let My Zune stay on all day to drain the battery.  I got home and got the Zune icon to come up and followed the instructions for starting a Zune having the black screen problem.  Installed the update firmware but the install didn't take..thus the Error code.  I am on a  PC running Windows  XP and My Zune is a  30GB that I recieved for Christmas.  The update going on to  my Zune was the newest one: 2.3.  What do I do now?  Can I  just reinstall the software?  I backed up my downloaded tunes that I bought.Crying [:'(] Miss my little Zuney buddy!  I like it a lot --sniff--thought I had wrecked it--it was such a small bump on the floor!  Sniff!  Sniff!

i called support (Case #1055083382). Had me download new software from Microsoft-Did that -still won't update/  Dug furter on the Zune troubleshooting site and I did find my code listed with suggestions-didn't work.  I even got to #4 on my Zune device which empties the contents--tried reinstall from the sortware-NOPE!  I have spent 4 hours doing all this and I am sitting here with a brand new device that I can't use.  HELP!

re: C00D1249 Error
it probably is broke since it got droped, i would get it replaced or repaired, I also recomed buying a hard pastic case for your zune so it would be better protected. i got one for my old 30gb zune, and when it got dropped, the case came apart, and that was it, i inspected my zune for damage marks and there was nothing, it worked fine, the case was not broke either just the 2 parts came apart, and it sounded and looked like it hit the floor hard too. i getting a silcon case for my 80gb zune but that wont offer as much protection as a hard pastic one, i might get a hard pastic one so if im worry it will get damage ill use that case instead of a silcon one, or i will just use my old 30gb zune in its hard pastic case instead.
