Zune Speaker Docks
So I was browsing for a speaker dock for my Zune, but the choices seem rather limited and most aren't stocked in-store.  It kinda makes it hard for me to test which one is the best one and I hate not being able to try before I buy.

Any current owners of the Altec Lansing docks (M604 and iM414) and any other docks out there that would like to share their experiences (good or bad) with either?

re: Zune Speaker Docks
I have the IM414 and it is average at best.  I really like the zune over the IPOD, but the limited accessories really suck.  I can't find a case at any store for my wife's 4gb zune, and I wish there were more than a couple speaker docks out there to chose from.  The quality of the speaker docks don't compare to the one's they have for IPOD.  Zune needs to get in gear and get going on accessories.

re: Zune Speaker Docks
I bought my wife a Zune 80 and a iM414 for x-mas. The speaker dock sounds decent, but the connection is real shotty. It take a couple minutes of fiddling with it before it gets a good connection and every now and then it'll show connected but no sound comes out at all. My wife is fine with it, but if it were mine I would take it back and get something else, not that there are many choices.

Forgive me if I am off the mark; but, why do you want the dock?  For what use? I thought about it for listening in the house; but, dh got me a cable to plug in the amp. The cheapo way to go; but, sounds like I'm doing better than some of these docks!

The m604 is very nice and I love charging while playing.  But if you are looking for some bass, this is not for your.  You hear lows and the sound is very clear, but no bass.  I did not know bose made one.  Are you sure?  There is one out there that is supposed to be awesome, but it is $450.  I can't remember the name.  It is very powerfull looking.

re: Zune Speaker Docks
I think the one you're thinking of is made by VAF.

It sucks to hear so much negative or middling reviews about the two most prominent speaker docks for the Zune.  What makes it worse is that a lot of other companies seemed to be on the Zune bandwagon back when the Zune 30 came out.  I know that JBL had a speaker dock in the works but I don't think they officially released it.  It looked nice too!

I mostly want a dock so that I can listen to my tunes at home without having to pipe them from my weak PC speakers.  Why doesn't Microsoft partner with someone to make a good first/second-party dock?  One where the remote ACTUALLY plays nice with the Zune interface.  It's got such a big screen, it would be really nice to navigate remotely.

OK, well, I'm back and not liking dh's setup with the cable from the amp and playing it on aux so much. I'm gonna blow that amp! I wondered if the volume would be super high when I was done with the zune and went to another input. It scared my toddler to death! So, I guess that the speaker dock is the solution for these things? But, I'm getting discouraged with the reviews! I wanted a pink player and Ipod stopped and dh says this was a better deal but I'm wondering about the accessories lack. I was thinking before he surprised me at Christmas of getting a pink case for an a nano....

The more I listen to my altec lansing, the more I like it.  It does have great sound and although you will never feel the bass, you can hear all lows without any distortion.  It fits great on any shelf and you can order on line for a wall mounting bracket for $3 shipped

I bought a "no name" brand fliptop leather case from ebay... (for my wifes zune 8bg).

I was concerned about the quality - especially considering the case was $5 (new) + $5 shipping.

When it arrive - I was impressed. was better than I had expected.

I agree with the accessory issue... there is a limited number of accessories available - listen up Microsoft - get the gears going.

As for Video (non-music video)... one would think Microsoft would have already teamed up - inked a deal with Vonga or Amazon.

Marketplace also needs a music preview !!!...

When I buy songs - I first check if they are available in Zune Marketplace - then I listen to the preview / sample on Amazon.com - then I buy it from Zune Marketplace (if available).

my 80 gb ipod died. apple didn't care. now have a 4, 8, and 80 gb zunes. when all fails. telepopmusik. just breath.

re: Zune Speaker Docks
We definitely need more accessories and speaker docks.  I would buy an ihome or something, but i'll still have to plug my zune in to keep it charge.  At work, I plug it to a set of speakers and keep it plugged in since I'm in my office for a while.  It's just a pain to have to reach over and change the song or whatever.  I guess I need to get that remote.  I'm still trying to wait for the JBL dock that was put out last CES2007.  JBL and iHome, where you at?!?!?!?!?

Out on the course listening to my Zune baby!!
