Hey,

Take a look at my journal.  If it's the same thing you're going through, maybe it may help you get up and running.

Hi,

I also have a Windows XP SP2.  I had the same problem as you, but look here on my complete journal on what was done to resolve this.  Hope this helps you out.

the problem seems to be the"zune-x86" "windows installer package"

it gave me the error dats everyone seems to b havin

the "operation remove driver finished with blah blah blah"

now please does anyone have some kind of solution to dis. I mean i was on the phone with dis dude from microsoft who even didnt kno how to solve dis

Installation Failed

Setup must stop because the required package 'Zune' failed to install.

Custom Action 19:37:58.092: Operation 'RemoveDriver' has finished with result 0x80004005.

DIFXAPP: Rollback failed with error 0x2

Error code: 0x80004005

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=101253

I keep getting this error.
I am running a windows xp service pack 2 .
anyone who had this error able to solve it??

Vista Home Premium where I couldn't start or uninstall the software. Used Unzoone, turned on firewall, and installed correctly.

I'm running vista ultimate 64-bit and found that turning on the Windows Firewall solved my problem.  Thanks.

re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?

Mine is even more rare.

No DisableRollback hack performed, and I also get Unknown Devices.  For me, the total number of Unknown Devices = the amout of times I install the Zune software.

If I install Zune 3 times, I will have 3 Unknown Devices.  I can restart many times, and the Unknown device will stay at the same number until I either physically remove them, or try to install the Zune software again.

re: setup tells you that you are missing a package?

Did this exactly as listed.  Got through 90% of #7 and then this came up in a pop-up

Custom Action (time) Operation 'Install Driver' has finished with result 0x80070643

Clicked ok and it was followed by

Custom Action (time) Operation 'remove Driver' has finished with result 0x80070643

Clicked ok and it immediately proceeded to "go backwards" and remove the desktop shortcut and failed to load the software.

All I get is message saying:

"Found New Hardware"     Zune Bus Root Bus Enumerator

The wizard then says that there was a problem installing this hardware...an error ocurred during the installation of the device.
