re: WANTED: Zunepad Feedback <stickied>

i agree with you guys the pad is too sensitive and i agree with the person who said they wished they could just tap the center. that would be great!

I hope mirosoft realizes this before the next update. if they do they could possibly take over apple. i feel there is something big coming from microsoft

re: WANTED: Zunepad Feedback <stickied>
I am a brand new Zune user having just received my 120GB yesterday.  I was a former iPod 30GB video user and have little to no experience with other mp3 or media players outside of my PSP and my iPod.

Learning to use the Zunepad was very quick and intuitive.  I have only one minor request.  The center of the pad needs a small indentation or nub or something (anything really) to indicate that when I press it I'll be using the selection button.  Scrolling and everything else was very easy to migrate over from my old iPod, but I found that I was often not selecting items correctly....i.e. I would mean to select song A, but would accidentally scroll down (or side to side) instead.  The more I use the Zune, the easier this becomes (except when driving....I hook up my Zune to my car stereo and have a dashboard pro-clip mount).  I fixed this by using one of those small "googly eyes" stick ons that kids use in kindergarten to decorate.  It's very small and I was able to stick it right on the center.  My ability to select items improved immediately.

Admittedly I have very large hands (2xl gloves just fit) so my "meaty" thumb may be part of the issue. However, having a clear tactile indication of where the center was has helped. Maybe this request is simply the result of 2 years with my iPod, and only 24 hours or so of learning to use the Zune.  Everything else about the navigation is brilliant.  Within 2 minutes I was wondering how the iPod can retain its popularity with it's clunky interface.  The Zune just seems elegant in contrast.

Thanks for actively seeking this kind of feedback.

re: WANTED: Zunepad Feedback <stickied>

I have switched from creative portable players and am trying the zune, however I have had some issues. My 8GB Zune sometimes will miss-register my pushing on the control pad; if I click down it may go up, or not register at all. I am not sure if this is the device software, or if the device is faulty. I currently have the touch navigation disabled. A general thought is that I dislike greatly the touch navigation, I had it on a past Creative product and hated it because it is too sensitive and you can't put it in your pocket without locking it; I adjust the volume and navigate tracks often.

Try going to settings on your zune and turning the touch on your zune pad OFF
WHEN you turn it off you will no longer miss when you click to enter music, videos or pictures

I find that it's pretty hard to click the "center" of the button without the ZunePad accidentally picking it up as a "left" or "right" stroke.  I wish that you could tap the center like you can do on laptop touchpads.

Also the touch scrolling is inconsistent/unpredicable.  I am never quite sure how far it's going to go when I make a down stroke.

I've had the device (120gb) for about 3 weeks and still haven't quite figured it out.  I'm getting better with the motions but it's still kind of difficult.

I, too like many users here, love the Zunepad. At first I thought the pad wasn't sensetive enough until I got used to it and now I have no qualms with scrolling. Also like that you can click if touch scrolling isn't your thing. The touch aspect of it is perfect and I love it the clicking however isn't as great as the touching. The center button isn't defined so sometimes I end up clicking down instead of the center button or sometimes both. I don't have a big thumb so this might just be me. Also, the clicking is too loud. Overall, great job on the Zunepad.

re: WANTED: Zunepad Feedback <stickied>
I love the Zune pad! I have a Zune 80 (or I will when it comes back from service Smile [:)]), and I like the accelerated scrolling feature when you're going down a long list (like the songs list... I have 7k). I do kinda miss the iPod way where when you got going fast enough, it would switch to letters. I frequently overshoot what I'm looking for (maybe I just haven't gotten used to the accelerator algorithm...). I also like the fact that I can do both clicks and touches, though I do think that having 5 hardware contacts instead of (I think) one would be nice, because sometimes the device does misinterpret which way I'm trying to go.

yeah bu tu know some ppl are so desperate to have more than others that theyll put anything on there but yeh the pad haas its ups and downs. its too sensitive but then alot better than a clickwheel!  its simple and u can actually have the power to turn it off. thats care and love from microsoft. jk but it i s a great feature for zunes. i mean at leats they updated so we wouldnt have thos boring buttons anymore right? (i guess im wrong)
